Leaving case candy on while playing?

If there are stickers on my instruments, I put them there myself.

They usually look cooler than the ones that came on the bass anyway.

I've only bought one "brand new" bass ever, and that was a custom Carvin, and everything else has been a used/pawn shop/TB bass, so I have never had any stickers to take off. Wait I take that back. My first bass was a Fender rip-off with film on the pickguard, but I tore that off and destroyed the pickguard with a sharpie.

plastic on pick guards and control cavities come off when I feel like taking it off

Someone left this case candy on for almost thirty years, it was made in 1985.

I bought the bass and had to soak the cavity cover in WD-40 for a couple of hours - and happily - it came right off.

Never understood this. products are made to be used and enjoyed. There are much more precious things than some consumer goods.

Same for people who leave the stickers on their phones, computers, TVs, cameras, etc. Then they get all gummy and nasty over time. Those are meant to be removed, folks!

It might be a cultural thing. I remember touring Lithuania in '94 and the locals kept all the tags and stickers on their sunglasses. Seemed crazy to us Yanks, but we were visiting and apparently uncool without our "polarized" stickers.

I rarely see case candy, unless it's a big expensive collector's item (In other words--non of my instruments--well one had a hangtag saying it came with D'Addario's...)
