I think the G&L L-2500. If I am going to get another bass that will be it. All the features seem to make sense to me and seems versatile

G&L L-2500 is the only bass I've encountered with "versatility" where every option seemed actually usable in some context.

I went l-2500 through Sadowsky outboard pre into Mesa wd-800 and 2 subway 115s.

Honestly? Which bass doesn't matter; I wouldn't play 95% of those songs on a bet. Not because they're bad; just that I'm pretty much stuck in the pre-1975 musical era, and TBH? I've never even heard a lot of them. However... if they were songs that I'm familiar with? If I could only use one of my large herd of basses? Probably the A-necked '78 Fender P-Bass, with clones of the flats that it came from the factory with, under the foam mute in it's bridge cover. Light gauge, round core flats; not a lot of sustain, but... a whole lot less thumpy and "dead" than you'd think. The sound of the "Vintage" rock you heard on the radio, when you were a child...

I usually pick the bass the day of the gig. It depends on what I am digging at the moment and can also be influenced how I want to look. I have a wide variety of basses to choose from long or short and rounds or flats. Band does not care but may comment if they thought I sounded better than usual. The guitar and keyboard players are doing the same thing and I don't seam to notice with their mixing and matching either.

bass matching your ATTIRE?

As the owner of a G&L M2500 and previous owner of a G&L L2500 I’d take the M2500 because it has the most versatile tone options (in my experience) however I’d also allow color of the bass to be a factor
