Leaving the band

I am letting my band no today that I am just not into it anymore. It was a fun 4 years as we started as a CL project in a warehouse. Over time for a variety of reasons i have become less "Hell yeah" and more "maybe". The usual deal -noone responding to texts, dressing down for shows, etc. Also my vocals (that were not always the best) are getting degraded with age. When i think of rehearsal latley it just doesnt spark joy :)
Anyway -i told the guys I am leaving up the FB page in case someone wants to contact us for a gig. However, I am not pursuing any. Also they can get another singer if they like -no hurt feelings.
Anyway -I may pursue country music in the coming year. That may be a new adventure with it's own pitfalls.

Maybe you'd change your mind if that dude stops wearing the M Bison hat. :)

Apparel has little to do with it for me. ;)

It usually happens when we all get tired of the grind and the sameness of it all.

Now days I'd prefer doing some sub gigs, hosting a jam, and maybe 2-4 gigs a month as opposed to the every weekend thing when I was younger. My live fast, die young days are long gone. :roflmao:

Oh i googled M Bison
@Scottgun would you prefer hawaiian shirts and crocs?!
If so you might fit in with these guys....
Anyway i dressed for success when i could. Trying to stick out in the bar scene and put on a show for people. Maybe that was misplaced -maybe not. It is all moot now as it is over.

That's cool. I'm just busting your chops a little. :)

Bands have lifetimes too. Sounds like yours is ‘up’.

Move on, not the end of anything as you take all the experience with you.

In general and in my opinion, it takes a year of rehearsing and playing to develop a band’s image and repertoire

Don’t get discouraged too soon out there in the new band. Keep on playing, player.

Good call - if you're just not into it or not feeling it anymore then it's time to take a break to refresh and recharge.
I left my covers band in late 2017 - got sick of travelling 1hr to gigs and getting home at 3-4am nearly every Sunday morning.... there were times when I was getting in the car to drive to a gig and I was thinking I'd rather be somewhere else (like back home with my wife) so I made the decision to leave....
I took about 7-8 months off, had a long overdue holiday with the wife and in July I hooked up with a local band that plays about once a month - there's no stress involved and I'm feeling really good about it and enjoying it again.

Yep - that’s where I was last year. Left a busy working country band with great players and a great frontman due largely to burnout in retrospect. Spent the last year not doing much but have picked up with two bands that gig an average of twice a year. That’s more my speed - of course both bands gigged within the space of one week this past week! During the coldest months we’ve had in a while!

When it's no longer fun the time is right to get out.

No making any "fun" of your post, but I love the line "I have become less "Hell yeah" and more "maybe" That is a great response to many parts of life.

Regardless of what others have said, if you've had some good gigs and even some of the music was good than it's not fun to walk away. Just did it myself from one group so I hear what your saying.

Good luck on your next musical adventure, pick the bass up again, there's plenty of guitarists already.
