Double Bass Left Hand Pizz

Hey all,
I've been working on BB Wolf and in the tango section there are a number of left hand pizz notes. I'm not sure if I should hammer the notes down to create the pitch or stop the string with my first finger and try to pizz with my left pinky. If anyone has played this and has pointers please share. Thanks

I've never played it but Jeff Bradetich seems to be hammering the notes in this video.
