I play way up on the tip, especially for lower positions. It's what I was taught.
So yesterday I sliced the tip of my thumb in the kitchen. Not a deep cut but it's big, and, of course, pretty much exactly where my thumb makes contact with the neck. Painful, and annoying.
I was trying to play more on the pad in a rehearsal today and I can't seem to get my hand to do it ... weird eh. I have rehearsals and gigs all weekend so this should be interesting ...
