Lefty Acoustic Basses?

Hello all.. first timer here! Thanks for having me here..

I have been looking to pick up a fairly inexpensive acoustic bass with pickups, problem is I play left handed. As some of you know, it is nearly impossible to find one sitting in a store to play... :(

Question is.. anyone know of a good left-hand model to recommend with a pickup? Looking to spend $300 tops. I know I get what I pay for, it is what it is!

Thanks everyone!

$300? Good luck.

IMO, most acoustic basses (and I'm assuming you mean an acoustic guitar-style bass and not an upright) suck. Some sound decent amplified, but most sound thin and can't hold their own in an unplugged setting. To have an acoustic bass that can project, you need to be able to push air, and most can't do it given the smaller body size. The ONLY one I've ever heard that sound good loud and full unplugged was a Tacoma Chief, and they don't make them left handed. Otherwise, the only other acoustic basses that sound like a bass to my ears unplugged are those huge ones that mariachi bands play (guitarron).

Michael Kelly basses get halfway decent reviews, though they're generally over $500 new. Otherwise, Dean, Epiphone, Hohner, Warwick, Crafter, Martin, Ovation, Takamine, and Agile are just a few of the companies that make lefties as well, with only the Agiles being under $300 new.
