Lefty Gibson Thunderbird!!

I got an ad about Sam Ash offering a left handed Gibson Thunderbird. I have been calling them and asking them for years, about when would they build a lefty bass guitar. I was told by Gibson that they did not make lefty guitars (basses) and had no plans to do so. I ordered the guitar immediately. It is bright red! It sounds great, a few cosmetic errors... My Fender Precision is flawless, as far as looks go, but I have played the Gibson at a couple of gigs and it sounds awesome.. Has anyone else heard of left-handed Gibson basses?

T-Bird 2.JPG Why, yes... yes I have. This one's from the last time Gibson made a batch of lefty basses - in 2013. I also got a black 2018 early this year, too. The red one was tempting... even though I usually avoid red like the plague, too. The new one's pictures are not on this (work) computer, unfortunately; and I can't load stuff on it anymore (thank you, company Computer Gestapo..) Gibson seems to remember that there are actual left handed bass players every 5 years or so; problem is, they never announce that they're going to. Which is why I'm on a first name basis with the Guitar Dept. manager at the local Sam Ash here. He has contacts at Gibson... I got both of mine through him. This '13 really is flawless; the '18? Well, it's flawless until you open the control cavity. The wiring in the '13 is a textbook illustration of how guitar wiring should be done. The wiring in the '18's cavity... well, let's just say that I could do better (and have); and it's a class A misdemeanor to let me within 25 ft. of a soldering iron. But, it works like it should, so... I just wish I hadn't taken the cover off and seen that mess, though..:rollno: Have you joined the Thunderbird club here yet? You should; a very active and helpful place. And, as far as I know, BklynKen and myself may be the only lefty members - so far...
