Legion bass cabs?

The Avatar 210 only comes in Neo now and it is $288 shipped.
The Legion Sound 210 is $125 shipped.
So that is not really a fair comparison in my opinion.

The Legion 212 is $175 shipped, and will eat the Avatar 210 for lunch.
Avatar is a great company to deal with, though.

do a search on the Legion cabs here ... there was a good post a while back by JoeGeezer regarding a 212 legion he had picked up and evaluated ... I know nothing about them, but I trust his opinion ...

I have owned and used the Legion 210 cabs. They are not quite as efficient as the speakers in some of the higher buck cabs, but they will get you out and gigging. The Madison Warrior drivers, in those cabs are about indestructable. I have pushed them real hard, and never blew a driver in any of them. If thats what your budget will get you, go for it. You can always upgrade at a later date. Good Luck!
Edit: I see the post for a used Peavey 210TX. I have owned and used them too. They will go lower than the Legion, but won't handle quite as much power, but they are also a good choice.

Thanks Joe, Im just kinda wary of deals that good sometimes. But sounds like they are pretty good. to me it seems as long as you play through a decent head, the cab doesn't make too much difference. Plus the whole thing about the lows, I usually dont push the lows too much, I really use the mids so this cab sounds pretty good. I'm just looking to step up my stuff and hope it lasts a few years until I can get some good quality stuff(I'm poor right now because I'm 15 and worknig on trying to save enough for a car).

Actually, yeah I have adequate experience with both companys cabs. But, sorry I do not feel like explaining myself to you. Threadstarter, save up and go Avatar B212 Neo. Thats all I got to say.

Music Supply Center gives the Thiele-Small specs for the Warrior 10 driver. I also estimate a roughly 72 liter box. That's enough to plug into WinISD. It gives a sensitivity curve with a 3 dB hump at 100 Hz, and an overall sensitivity of around 92 dB from 200 to 1000 Hz. Thus like joegeezer says, "not quite as efficient" is a reasonable expectation.

No, really, 180+DecibelBass, can you add some specifics on what you didn't like about the Legions ? Don't think of it as "explaining yourself"...think of it as helping a bunch of budget-conscious bass players make a better decision about what they're gonna play through. :help: And thanks !

Yo man, I just wanted to let you know that everything that mussicsupplycenter.com says about the cabs is true. I was actually looking at getting their 2-12" cab 4ohms 600 watts rms $179, but it appears that they don't make em anymore. They were made from birch also, very sturdy wood for cabs. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that all the other cabs are 8 ohm. Unless your head puts a good amount of power, you are not going to realize the true potential of you head. The other thing is you must realize that these are a quick fix, don't plan on getting these for the long haul. All the other cabs are made from MDF which after time will detune the box (at least a few years before that happens). As far as "throwaway cabs", they are great. You have something cheap that handles a fair amount of power. you must be real careful with the cab because of the cheap wood. You need a head that puts out good power at 8 ohms. The other thing I wantedto metion, from what I have heard, the 2-10" lacks a lot of bottom end. You also want to make sure that if you buy it for $100, when it's time to sell yoou are not going to get half of what you paid. Music supply centers ebay store should also offer the 2-10" with 1-15" for 200 buy it now or start bid of $150. Then you could have a little bottom and push 4 ohms. Its all about ohm matching. What head are you going to use?

“Quick fix”/”not for the long haul”/”throwaway cabs” in my opinion is not accurate.
I believe that the musicsupplycenter.com speakers are well made and will last as long as most other brands.
I own three of their cabinets plus I have their Madison speakers in four other cabinets.

Ok, well the legion 212 that my guitarist has sounded very peculiar. To me it sounded like more cab, no the speaker. THe cabinet really flexes and is not that stable so thats why it sounds like that i guess. It naturally has huge midrange bump and really got me aggravated. I was using my fbb custom 4 string through a ampeg pre/crest poweramp combo. I didnt push the cab all that much. And it was noisy, guess thats the inner wiring and jacks.
The avatars I have are really something to think about. I have 2 neo 212s and they are crystal clear and handle alot of power. Really tight, like a 210 but had all the characteristics of 212s. Not noisy. But I have heard of bad experiences with the kappa pros but Dave doesn't sell em anymore so thats out of the way.

Yes, other brands that use MDF. The speakers are great. If the still produced the birch cabs, I would buy one without hesitation. I am only emphasizing the importance of quality material.
