Lend you vast knowledge....

IMO, you might want to rethink trading your EV410 for a SWR 410 because the SWR is not a very efficient cab. Do a search for threads concerning this and you'll find several current and former SWR 410 cab owners, myself included, that have found that you have to run a ton of power into them to be heard. The SM-900 would be a minimum. I had a Goliath II and a SM-900 and I would have it cranked and I still got blown away by the guitarist with his 65 watt Fender amp.

How many watts is your EV rated for? EV's are typically very efficient. They're underated as bass cabs. I had 2 EV B115-M's that were really nice though kinda bulky. Don't discount keeping those EV's. Try running the Mesa Boogie 400+ through that EV. I bet you'll be surprised at the sound. If anything, get rid of the 18". The sound produced by an 18 takes so long to develop you have to be quite aways away in order to hear it.

So, my advise is sell the GK and the SWR and buy the Boogie (or something similiar) and run it through the EV, providing the EV can handle the wattage. Of course this is JMHO.

I think you have a good point. SWR cabs aren't that efficient. What if I got rid of the GK for a Mesa head and sold the 18 and the 410 for a 8x10? Maybe a SWR 8x10 or Ampeg 8x10? or maybe just another 410? What do you think? I need power and volume and your right about the 18, it dosen't seem to do allot as far as immediately noticeable sound. It is a very nice 18, but maybe not for my application. To get an idea of what I am going for, here are a few bands that have(in my opinion) a great bass sound: Incubus,Deftones,311,Jane's Addiction. So you get what I am shooting for.

CROZ:
Please tell me more about the plexiglass thing.
Wich height and thickness is necessary?

One of my bands is a Gospel choir+band and we always have problems with the drums in the choir mics.
I already thought about using a plexiglass board, but I'm not sure if it will really help.

Sorry for going off-topic.

Regurgitator:
No matter what you decide to buy, you should give it a try first (during a rehearsal, not just in the shop) to see if it suits your needs.
Regarding 8x10 cab: IMHO it's just for the looks, I would get 2 4x10s instead for better portability and also flexibilty. There might be occasions where people laugh at you when you show up with a 8x10...

SVT-810's...they are a little muddy. I used to drive my old GK800RB and my SVT classic through one. The SWR cabs I use now are clearer even without the using the horn (SVT 810 is hornless). I think it has something to do with an infinite baffle cabinet vs. Bass reflex. If you look inside an SVT 810 it's actually 4 2x10 cabs that are stuffed with insulation. Those 810s definitely have "the look", though. Having an 810 and an SVT puts hair on your chest. Makes you feel like a man! :D <p>
As far as the plexiglass...I made my own from scrap plexiglass at work. I don't know how much the material costs but I've heard it's really expensive so I don't know how cost effective it would be to make your own. I saw one at guitar center for about 200 bucks and that's what I based my design on... just three pieces of plexi connected by hinges.

GO WITH THE MESA MAN!!!!! BIG TIME HEAD ROOM. I play with two guitarists with Mesa half-stacks and they both like to play LOUD, but so do I. Even at the volume we play at I am only turned up 1/3'rd the way. And if you go with the Mesa ( depending if they are not already installed ) get Svetlana 6L6 tubes, they are an excellent tube for this head. Good Luck.

what pete and mesa man says! ive spent alot on crap that just made me buy more crap. that gets expensive! im really happy with the mesa 400+ w my 2x10 and 1x15 diesel cabs, i also run the svets as had been recommended to me and i like em!
and i hate everything. their cust service is the balls. and they cut a deal on tubes thru them directly for a complete set, which most people dont know. i like the ev"s and would prob get a matching mb cab w ev:s in it. e me if you cant find one.......jim ps: channel one crapped out on me tonight on my 400+, want to hear what was wrong and how quick i was able to fix it?
