Are you kidding me?! Maybe you should watch Conan a few times. He's constantly making snappy comments. In fact, that's one of the things I love about Conan...guys like Leno fawn over the guests while Conan realizes that it's not at all about the guests...it's about the laughs and that no one really cares about some wacky story that some star has about what happened when they were skiing in Aspen or whatever.

One of my favorite Conan guest stories was when Conan decided to fill his audience entirely with little kids...like 6 or 7 years old. Every time the show would get boring a siren would come on and "the bore monster" would start to attack them so everyone would have to start laughing to get him to go away and Conan would start this ridiculous fake laughing. One of his guests that night happened to be some economist or something. Really NOT a funny person. Obviously the poor guy had no idea when he came on that the audience was going to be all children. At one point when he started talking about the economy the flashing light kicked on and Conan started saying "Uh oh, we're too boring here comes the bore monster everyone laugh!" It was pretty funny. The guy was obviously pretty uncomfortable with it but he was a pretty good sport about it. It's all about the laughs.

As the undisputed world's biggest Jay Leno fan, I think I should throw my 2 cents in here...

I was completely shocked when the announcement was made yesterday. Knowing what I know about Jay's work ethic, I seriously thought he would be doing the show until he was in his 70s. That being said, I'm happy with what's going to happen. The person who most deserves the job will get it without any of 1992's nastiness. Or that succubus Helen Kushnick.

It does bother me to see people here say Jay's not funny. If the man wasn't funny, his standup shows wouldn't be sellouts every single time. Granted, his humor is "dumbed down" for the Tonight Show. But I've seen Jay do standup 5 times (6 times next month when I drive 8 hours to see him perform in Rochester, NY) and it's exponentially better than what you see on TV.


Here's 4 examples of how big a fan I am-

In 2000, Ellen Degeneres appeared as a guest on the Tonight Show with some crap items to sell on Ebay; one of which was a cheap plastic travel alarm clock with Edd Hall's picture as the clock face. I bought the thing for $530- well worth it, as it allowed me to get backstage at one of his standup gigs.

In 2003, Jay and Katie Couric switched jobs- she hosted the Tonight Show while Jay went to NYC to host "Today". Not only was I one of the annoying people in the audience, I actually got interviewed by Jay on live TV. He called me a stalker, lolz.

February 2, 2004- had Jay's production company logo tattooed on my left arm.

March 26, 2004- went all the way to NYC to attend a book signing of Jay's, then went all the way to Foxwoods casino to attend his standup show that same night- he picked on me twice during his show

I've never found Leno to be funny (Carson either, so Leno was a perfect replacement), so I for one wont miss him.

Keeping with the tradition of dull hosts (or people that imo try too hard to be funny) for the Tonight Show, my nominees for Leno's replacement are (in no particular order).....

1) Steve Martin
2) Jerry Seinfeld
3) Robin Williams
4) Jim Carrey

But, what the network should do (given Leno has five years left) is start casting for a new reality show of "Who wants to be Leno's replacement?"

Nah. As long as everything that comes out of it is a positive, I really don't see a problem with it. Kevin Eubanks think's it's actually pretty cool that Jay's got such a loyal fan. Besides, it's not like it's the all-consuming force of my life or anything; I do have other hobbies y'know.

Lolz... if you must know, besides my fandom of Jay Leno, I also collect DVDs (especially South Park and SNL cast member DVDs), guitars and basses, and Transformers... yes, I'm a weird guy.

I can't agree with you there. I don't think Leno is awful or anything and he does make me laugh sometimes, but I really think Conan is a ton better. But hey, to each their own.
