No flaming. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. But I love the "The Grand Pecking Order" (the only Oysterhead album).

I'm only a lukewarm fan of Primus itself. It seems as if every album they've ever produced has a couple of really good songs, several okay songs, plus some terrible filler material thrown in that I fail to understand why they thought it was good enough to even record.

I made a "best of" mix of about 20 Primus songs that I like and those are the ones I play.

But I'll put on "Grand Pecking Order" and play it from beginning to end every time and enjoy every minute of it.

Hmmm....maybe I have to re-listen to it. It's been about 15 years or so.

I was just talking about Primus last night. Claypool is definitely in the top 5 most influential bass players on me. But a lot of the song writing silliness wore on me.

With vaccination rates pretty high now locally, finally got back together in person with some folks. New trio. And I'm very excited about the potential to have some Primus like parts with these guys without the silly song writing.

Potentially workable trio for it. Guitar player has serious skills on the regular, but is way down the complicated effects rabbit hole in a way that can fairly well fill parts you'd more expect for synths. Drummer mostly listens to metal but plays like a jazz guy 75% of the time.

Not that'd I'd ever be so over the top all the time, so of my other big influences are rather subtle actually. I love lots of dynamics. And I'm mainly a singer.

And they're totally fine with my 'lead bass player' approach lol. Don't tell Yakopus.

First Primus show I saw I think they were on tour for Frizzle Fry. Tiny club in Cleveland, they opened for 24-7 Spyze. Phenomenal. Last time I saw them was on the Sailing the Seas tour in Cincinnati. Blew my mind, but I didn't get Pork Soda at the time, and I haven't seen them since. Many years later, I've caught back up.
