Leslie with bass guitar?

I have an old Leslie with a 15" field coil woofer and horn. Will I hurt it by playing my bass through it? I use the output of my B-15n as a preamp for a really cool sound, but I'm worried I'll end up destroying the woofer.

The "EXT AMP" output through a Leslie preamp that connects to the built in tube amp in the Leslie.

I think that as long as you're reasonably careful it should work just fine, since leslies usually take organs which can get pretty bassy too.
TBers, please chime in and correct me if I'm wrong...

shouldn't hurt it, but i doubt you'll get much out of it. the lows speaker doesn't rotate. might get a little swirl on your high notes, but hey...i shouldn't try to talk you out of it.

Should be fine, as was said, a Hammond organ can put out serious bass tones, and Leslies were built for them. I wouldn't worry about it.

The low speaker won't rotate, but the drum above it will (depending on the Leslie). It does sound cool.

The Low and high both rotate. The Woofer is a 15" filed coil fixed and right below it is the "horn" that rotates it. Makes for a neat sound.

a leslie organ has much lower notes than a bass guitar. I see no way that you can harm it.

I'm a big fan of just about anything through a leslie. Recording them is really a fun task. You get to use an assortment of mics in a bunch of different places and blend them to get some really cool sounds. Post some clips if you can. I'd like to hear how it sounds.

I have played bass for about two weeks with no musical back ground... I doubt anything I record would do much other than make most of you tear up.

I do have an instructor coming over Saturday and maybe I can get him to play through it.

Should be OK. Kinda reminds me of my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. It came from the factory with a rear spoiler. Not a tiny lip, but a real, honest-to-God spoiler that was a separate wing. Just like playing bass through a Leslie, it didn't hurt anything. But then again, what's the point?

FYI, the 15" speaker doesn't rotate. It fires straight down into the rotating drum.

It would take quite a motor to get a 15" speaker spinning that fast.
