Are there any recommended grinders in the $60-$100 range? I don’t want to go all out my first time.
That's what I did. Ceramic burr hand powered. I might take it to Christmas to give the kids something to do grinding the adults' beans. But that would mean I have to finish the last bag when I get back.

Score one more for Bialetti. Goes on holiday easily.

If the worst came to the worst I could still make a small fire under my stainless unit until I ran out of coffee, so it wins best coffee maker for the Zombie Apocalypse too.

I love our Bialetti. Great coffee every time, and you're right about how easy it is to use.

I've got a bialetti and a French press. I usually use the French press since the bialetti tends to have people asking questions that I'm rarely enthused to be answering in the morning. That being said, I tend not to be too picky with the grinds, but mj5150 has made the best coffee I've ever had. Out where I am it's kinda hard to go the fresh, whole bean route consistently, but I enjoy the good stuff when I can get it. At any rate, coffee for me is kinda like beer, even the bad stuff is kinda good sometimes, but in either case not to be had too much of.

Honestly, I know some guys who will measure out exactly how much per cup they like of each and every particular bean and roast and will individually make drip coffee for everybody present to those exact "recipes". Damn good coffee, but at 0-dark-thirty when I need to be out and about doing something ridiculous, I can't say I can be bothered with being so meticulous.

It's a dollar for a small cup of regular tree bark black, two and change for a doppio with milk (my post bikeride-before work drink), $4+ for the drinks designed for people who would be happy to just drink from a bottle of Nestle Quick if it were socially acceptable.

The gas station right near my workplace charges more for the same size of black that tastes like water with a little coffee poured in for color and Dunkin regular tastes like a cheap version of Starbucks' $4 drinks.

Cold brewing with home distilled seems interesting though

No need to justify your desire for bad coffee.
Part of why I don't like Starsucks is because they think they inventented coffee. It I didn't drink my own burr grinded coffee I would rather pay twice as much as starbucks charges somewhere else.
Just my own terrible opinion.

Who but the inventor has the right to put caramel sauce and marshmellows in coffee?
lol I dunno. Anyone willing to sell their soul for $9/hr+tips at any coffee shop? Anyone willing to spend $4-7 of their parent's/spouse's money on a cup of whipped cream topped caffeinated syrup from either SB, TH, or Dunkin?

You guys must have never tasted any of those -accino drinks from any coffee shop. They, by definition, are not coffee and I'm pretty sure that they predate SB.

7:32am Monday coffee is not the same as Friday evening coffee after a good meal.

Sigh. It was a rhetorical lol directed at the imperialist (as in set on taking over the world) Starbucks chain.

I’ve been a home burr grind French press coffee kinda guy for nearly a decade now. In 10 years time I’m only on my second grinder. It’s a Mr Coffee brand unit I got from Target. Pretty sure it was like $30. Works great. I only buy whole beans either Starbucks Blonde Roast or their Sumatra. Every year for mY birthday/Christmas I get a couple pounds of Greewell Farms beans from the big island of Hawaii. Our water on to boil, grind beans once I hear the kettle makin noise, pull the water just before a boil, pour in enough water to cover the grounds, give it a stir and wait 30 seconds, pour in the rest of the water and stir, wait 7-8 minutes and BOOM. Perfection every time.
