Someibe did ask. My answer was heavy, like basses should be. Fact is I have no idea what it weighs. Never mattered. It wears perfect. Doesn't really seem much heavier than my old Rick or any other bass.
Uh...what's a tort? You mean one of those chingy string tree dealios? That was asked about too. It didn't need one.

Tort refers to a tortoise shell pick guard. That and the weight of a bass are discussed so much here that it has become something of a joke. All in fun!

Ahhhh. I get it now. I must confess to not only being new here but to also not diving too deep. I mainly joined up to get info and perspective on newer amplification gear as most of my stuff is very road weary and heavy. Not much of a tech head or magazine guy. Don't normally talk about bass playing much I just play the damn thing. And whenever I start seeing too much post drama I generally bail and lose interest. Quite enough of that on the other forums I'm a part of (rally car stuff and traditional archery). I'm sure I'll eventually get up to speed and begin to understand the local inside jokes after a while. I'm always down for a heckle.
But I will say, a pickguard implies playing bass with a pick. Nah. Not gonna happen here.

You might have missed the point. Your first comment was about the bridge not being sufficiently anchored. The bridge is fully anchored, you just didn't see the bass properly.
There is only "one of these", all there ever will be. This bass was built for me and my own tonal vision and no one else. 33 years ago. It might surprise people but every choice and decision, including the shape and size of the body was made with the goal of achieving a particular fretless tone, as I understood the mechanics at that time of producing the tone I sought. I can't imagine anyone else wanting it or putting up with it. I would love to show it to you some day.
Of course it's not for everyone. It was never intended to be. We are all on our own particular quest for tone, however we each as individuals define it. This bass is a product of my quest for tone. For me tone is not something you get from an amp or speaker combo or a pedal. It starts first with the fingers(that are just your ears really), next with the instrument. If the instrument doesn't sound amazing unplugged, no amount of signal processing is gonna give it a true quality tone. I have been playing for 43 years now and just recently found this forum of like minds and wanted to share with all of you a few pages from my particular journey. I'm grateful for the conversation and brotherhood.
Thanks for sharing! I get tired of the samo-samo, and I value uniqueness, especially in basses!
