Lets Buy A Wish Part II

Heys guys. I've been following this thread closely. Props to Coffee-Sipper for making this happen. I was half-way being flip when I suggested another "Lets Buy A Wish" in the previous thread. You guys are keepin it real, fo' shizzle.

Just a suggestion. Perhaps you should dedicate a post that is only populated with reviews by those who played the bas for this project. A "Do Not Post" post, if you will. This current thread is getting really big fast, and it is getting harder to sift through reviews amidst that chatter.

Thanks!

Playing the Wish was kind of difficult. The lacquered neck was stickin' like glue, and the string spacing felt a mile wide. (???) Good for slapping, bad for popping, thanks to the fretboard right underneath, but it may just be my technique.
.

When I received my Wish (#350) I felt the neck to be a bit "sticky" as well. To solve the problem, I took a very fine sanding pad and knocked the lacquer down a bit by sanding up and down along the length of the neck.

Now it feels nice and worn in and quite slick enough. My design is a little different than this one and I can lay my thumb down on the fingerboard for slapping but still I have enough room between the pup (kent armstrong soapbar) and the fingerboard to pop.

If anyone would be kind enough, at some point I'd like to hear some .mp3 samples of this Wish for comparison to mine, thanks.

Ok, I got it. It smelled funny (Its all that damn laquer he put on it.. 'Meet the Parents' lol ).. Ok, well..

Yes The neck is big as a bat
Yes The finish and wood work looks shotty
Yes The bass looks pretty nice from a small distance
Yes The playability is a little less than average

and

NO I don't like the tone. Who's it go to next? Ha, I will put it in an SKB case I have laying around (unless someone wants to buy the SKB case from me).. SO EVERYONE, make sure the bass comes in an SKB case or else someone has stolen it.

Here's a CLIP of the bass..

Bump.. listen to me play dammit!

I think the tone sounds just fine. (playing too,, WAY better than anything I can do without the speedbumps) is the noise in the recording process or is that the hum others mentioned? do you have a clip through the same recording setup with a "production" bass that we could compare it to?
