Love the old school Ibanez. I just saw @TJH3113 bass collection video with his RB and now have it on the list of basses to buy one day.
I remember seeing these in another thread. Your kids have a knack for art. I like the colors and patterns they used.
Thank you sir, that personal touch from them makes them all the more "ride and die" basses that I couldn't part with. We have all kinds of their artwork hanging in the house.

I've got at least three basses that I put in the You Can Have It When You Pry It From My Cold Dead Hands category:
My 1982 Steinberger L-2. Got it new when I was fresh outta college, it was my main (practically only) bass for the next 10 years, it's been on tour with me all over the world, and it still sounds like no other bass. Never gonna sell this one.
My 1988 Modulus Graphite Quantum-6 SPX. Custom made for me back when Modulus was on Folsom Street in San Francisco & Geoff Gould was running the place, it's been the instrument that best allows me to define my individual expressive voice as a musician ever since. Never gonna sell this one.
My mid-1980s Schecter Venus B/4, which I picked up second-hand in 1996. This was from back in the day when Schecters were boutique instruments built in the USA by David Schecter and Tom Anderson, easily one of the finest passive FSOs ever made, and I had been jonesing for a Venus ever since I first played a couple in 1985. Never gonna sell this one.
Oops! Make that four basses that I put in the You Can Have It When You Pry It From My Cold Dead Hands category:
My 2007 Rob Allen MB-2. My wife had this custom-made for me on our fifth wedding anniversary, Yeah, definitely never gonna sell this one!

i guess i'm in a new phase. i don't have "that ride or die bass" anymore...it has been replaced by a group! 
six of these seven are important to me, three of them are as good as i've played. one of them might be sentimental.

Only tried one Modulus and it was nice. When I was the shop manager for the production company I worked for I had to set up areas for tour preps. One of our long time clients was Mike Gordon. All the guys on his crew freelanced with us so I was friends with them all and the tech could see me eyeing the bass and getting a hard on so he picked it up and threw it on me. It was a rad bass and I would love a Modulus for that graphite but not sure If Ill ever throw down that much cash on a single bass. But trying Gordons was a cool moment.
About the Schecters, how are they? I have almost scooped a couple of the USA ones from the era that yours is from that were going for steals but I was downsizing and couldn't justify buying more even at the crazy price they were marked at.
And you wife gives awesome gifts.

Nice. The L2000 I had was bought as a NOS that was a couple years old already. Not a single flaw or mark along with all the tags and case candy. Whoever bought that from me got a steal as I sold it for what I got it for and I got beyond a amazing deal. If I buy another I'm thinking I might go with a older model from the 80's. Maybe a birth year bass from 87'.
And just a Leo gave your dads friend that bass or the man himself?

For me, it's my 2007 Lakland 44-01. Not a super expensive bass bass, but perfect in every way for me.
Mine is a Modulus Funk Unlimited 5 that I had custom made back in 2012. I own/have owned a number of nice basses but this is the one I would keep if I could only keep one:
Was working as a A3 for T Pain and his bass player was rocking one. Sounded great but never had the chance to try one out.
A Bass I'd Never Sell . . . . doesn't exist for me. I like changing things up over time, and the idea I'd keep One Bass for the Rest of My Life . . . . nope. Time, taste, and technology changes, and what I was Bug Nutz for 30 years ago would not even move my meter today.
