So I purchased a used OBP3. I tried to install it myself to no avail. After a few attempts I gave in and took it to a pro. He concluded after multiple rewiring and a lot of trouble shooting that a push pull pot was bad and a volume pot. Also the harness had been kind of hacked up and a lot of jointed needed to be redone. It's unfortunate as I lost the push pull active passive and now only have an all the time active bass. It's running 18v but I'm gonna pull a battery and run 9 as it is insanely loud!!! The bottom 3 are bass mid treble, then vol vol for the pups and thentoggle switch is a little mid scoop boost. With the EQ maxed and the vols barely on it sounds amazing. I strung up a fresh set of Cobalt Flats and tuned standard with the hipshot dropping to D. I'm kinda bummed as I already had the bass set up as vol vol and a single tone prior to this and loved the tone. I'll need to play with this for a while and figure out the sweet spots but it sucks I can barely turn up the pups without it getting too loud, clipping my amp and being boomy. She's still my ride or die and will never leave my possession but it seems my tone quest continues.
My first fretless, arrived 4 weeks ago. Sire Marcus Miller V7. Worship team at church raving about the sound of it. (Mostly bridge pickup with a touch of TC Hall of Fame reverb.)

I did it, too. Used green ones on a couple basses I play in an 80s cover band. They look really great on this murdered out Dyna Bass. The strings glow under the LED stage lights. The other set wore out, but these are still going strong. 5 string set on a 4, tuned BEAD, I threw the G out.
LED stage lights make those strings pop, depending on the color, but UV stage lights make them glow like black light posters, if you're old enough to remember those.

I had never owned black basses until very recently. First was a DIY black Jazz Bass I built later in 2019 (all parts from a "donor" somebody sold me for cheap, plus the cheapest bass & neck I could get from AliExpress). A blast to build, I really like the easy "distressed" black finish, and it doesn't play nor sound bad at all.
Then a few months ago I got a bass I'd been drooling over for a decade or so. Probably the best bang for the buck Star Bass there is, a Korean Pro Series, SO nice.

Oh! Another one. This is Twiggy, a severely modified Yamaha RBX250 strung with old flats. I purchased this as a "silent practice bass" for €20. The dummy pickup has since been replaced with a "live" split coil, and hooked to a jack, along with a kill switch. No controls. Very Frankenstein-ish. It sounds like a P. Extreme neck dive. I haven't gigged it yet. I'm thinking about adding a "cigar box" or "oil can" body shell. The lower bout is avail to play it sitting.
Where did you get the black Rickie nameplate? I would love to do that with my black Rick.
I just checked, they're not selling one at the moment. Was it a genuine Rick TRC that they just happened to have? Or do they have a line on copies?
I wouldn't feel bad about getting a black copy (counterfeit) of a Rick TRC that looks exactly like the original, because the bass it would be going on is a genuine Rickenbacker.
Well, that's 89€ worth of bass if you don't count the Hipshot D-tuner (already had that sitting in a drawer at home). Don't know about the pickups (no brand or labelling at all) but they sound super. Will never know, the "donor" bass was something some guy sold for me 38€ (the ad title -in Spanish- could be translated as "Horrible bass for sale"), neck and body were WRONG (truss rod did nothing, body shape was OFF, looked like painted during a bad acid trip). Then got cheapest AliExpress neck and (basswood) Jazz body for 51€ (they fit OK, not the thinnest neck -I like them SKINNY, despite owning a Warwick-, but sets up and plays very decently).
