I don't have a black bass but I've fantasized about doing something like this black burst except with Black 2.0

My Stingray bought December 2001.

Black 55-02 & black 55-aj both with custom pick guards
St. Blues Strings & Things P/J, mid 80s build. Other than the binding, this probably looks like a dime store bass to anyone not familiar with that builder. It is assuredly not.
Slightly downsized body, slab cut, passive. It has Dimarzio pickups now that are not original. Chromes on it currently, though it also sounds great with roundwounds as a slap bass.

Suggestions:
1) Tapewound Strings
2) Black anodised frets and black M.O.P. dots or
3) Convert to fretless, ebony board, no lines or black lines.

This was a Fender MIM PBass with D'Addario Chromes and Geezer Butler pickups. I played it through a GK MB212. I sold it and the amp over a year ago due to tendonitis in my hands and am still kicking myself for it. 
it's not that I seek them out, they just find me through incredible deals I can't pass up. I must say, they are classy.
