This is my favorite bass of all time, its beat out a lot of great basses as I was trying to move it to a "doesn't leave the house" kinda bass. Not sure is it's the absence of the clearcoat but it sounds fuller and warmer than any other bass I've played. Love it!

Here's mine rocking a spitfire otherwise left original

Beautiful! I shoulda taken a pic of mine in the sun to get a better idea of the color, but here in California we're seeing a crazy bad storm right now. Yours is the wine red? Looks like we're both rocking chromes.

I got mine with a rusted out bridge, so I replaced it with a classic style beidge I already had. Otherwise mine is stock too. Love the tone and mine is super light for a P! Looking to eventually buy a HMV bridge to replace the original, but I just can't justify the cost... for now.

Edit: talk about a small world. Not only do we each have the same RARE bass. (150 made total I think?) Looking at your profile I just saw you joined talkbass on my 35th birthday.

I must admit I came to the maple fretboard party kind of like I always preferred the look of Rosewood fingerboards with very few exceptions I stumbled into the maple fingerboards due to budget and availability. I must admit though they are growing on me very quickly particularly with this latest acquisition.

My first maple. I got it ad cheap B stock and wasn't sure if would like electric guitar so I went with it...

My second was because the 5 strings weren't coming up with rosewood.

The newest was because of CITES severely limiting rosewood boards. Maple is starting to grow on me. Especially with the 3ts or black with pearl pickguards.
