I built this about 20 years ago. I actually bought 2 slabs of walnut, glued them together, cut it out on a band saw and routed and inlaid a (self made) figured maple guard into the body, sanded it flush.

The neck is Warmoth pao ferro + maple, no fret markers. Ha! At first, looks like a fretless. It's fretted.

(I'll NEVER do another project like this again! I'm too old and I don't have the time and patience. And, it was all a very big, big gamble.)

Haven't posted this one in a while... had the Hyak fretless out the other day. I should play this bass more than I do.

There's one little do-dad inlaid at the second octave to make me smile... otherwise the Alembic is unmarked. (at least on the front)

Squire something something 5 neck on a custom body.



The matching fretless has small markers on the bass edge of the fingerboard but no position dots or blocks on the face. Dunno if that counts as unmarked.

I'm not a big fan of dots on the fretboard face. I don't look at them when I'm playing anyways, so really they are only there for the crowd to see where your fingers are.
So when I built these two, I built them without dots on the face -
