Let's see your Rickenbackers!!

The third one used to be my main bass when I was playing with Format Brain.

When I bought the Hondo, I got the parts of a second bass, including a spare neck, which I used to built a new body around made of flamed Maple and Platanus contrast stripes. I figured that I could make a modren re-think of a Rock 4001 bass and this one was the direct result of that.

It sounds really good and warm and the low end of this bass is something really "Un-ricky" sounding and it turned heads everytime I took it out live.

Finally my fourth Ricky copy.

This one is still in the works, it's a 1976 copy made by Ibanez I bought this one empty: no electronics, no parts, just the body and neck.

I have ordered the parts (Real Rickenbacker parts, that is) from a shop that specializes in vintage guitars to make that one once again look as striking as it did when new.

It currently has a Basslines MM humbucker and a Schaller Bridge and it sounds and plays really good. I stripped away the fingerboard finish and put Tung oil on instead, it makes a HUGE difference in sound and feel.
