When approaching the country music style, it is best play an extended range bass instrument as the genre typically demands complexity in upper chordature applications. This allows the bassist to assist in the creation of the 'high lonesome' tone coloration whilst simultaneously providing the required chromatic thrust in the lower chordature. A mixture of flat and round wound strings is recommended for fullest expression.

Also, wear boots.
