Let's spread some musical misinformation

Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend briefly considered forming a band with Paul McCartney and Ringo Star
they were going to call the new band "The Whootles", but nothing eventuated

The other name option was The Beat, since Ringo and Paul were the rhythm section (George and John the The Les section). The The was to be taken from The Who, and not to be confused with The The. Dave Wakeling objected and so Townshend was forced to cover one of Wakeling's songs, but Townshend had the last laugh, which Bowie had stolen from his Gnome and given to Pete in 1970. Contrary to what Lennon said the Gnome was not Paul, but was actually David 'Diddy' Hamilton.
