Let's spread some musical misinformation

The popular yuletide favorite "The Little Drummer Boy" has fourteen stanzas, twelve of which are considered apocryphal because they weren't directly mentioned in the Bible. Buried in the middle of the eleventh is the part where Mary feigned illness and prompted Joseph to get the kid to leave. This is the first historical record of a drummer being fired. For centuries historians debated whether or not this meeting actually took place until an obscure letter from Josephus to a local merchant was discovered asking the price of a certain drum, which was supposedly used to serenade baby Jesus. Most pass this story off as a work of fiction, but I'm convinced it's true for the following reasons: 1.) Jesus smiled after the drummer played. He was most likely disgusted during the presentation. 2.) Like all drummers, this one assumed he had a willing audience worthy of receiving his "gift". 3.) The ox and lamb kept time. Somebody had to.

COINCIDENCE?

I THINK NOT!

In other knews...

More people would play button accordions were it not for a fake shortage of buttons propagated by a collusion-conspiracy between knitters and sewers... In truth, the shortage of buttons for accordions is due to the outright theft of buttons by knitters and sewers.

To date, no knitter or sewer has ever been convicted of button theft, as many judges, lawyers and media persons are themselves part of the secret guild of knitters and sewers, and if not...

They're made to disappear just like a missing button...

This is why/how the "key" accordion came to be, due to a shortage of buttons.

It is also where the phrase "button it" came from, ie "shut-up", used by guild members on another member about to slip up and divulge a truth about missing buttons...

The most infamous guild patreon is surprisingly from F1, Jenson Button.

Jenson_Button_bahrain_2012.jpg

Indeed, he may be the mastermind and leader of the Guild itself, the latest in a long line of buttons passing down the post & tradition within the family. Notice all the brand emblems on his shirt involve some sort of "button-shaped" object.

It's not a conspiracy if it's real...

TL;DR

Savvy musicians know that means Tempo Labile; Drum Respite, which of course means can't keep time; fire the drummer.

the Christmas song 'little drummer boy' was originally going to be called 'little bass boy', but they decided the words 'slap, twangy slap twang' didn't really fit so they changed the name.

incidentially I always thought the lyrics were 'bar rubber bum bum' and I always used to wonder who the hell has a rubber bum every time I heard that song!

(Not misinformation): I want to hear William Shatner do a version of Little Drummer Boy.
Come. They told me.
Pa.rumpa.

To successfully remove all the frets, and thus free your bass from the arbitrary limitations of western scales, you're going to need one of these,

1-8.jpg

Alternatively, you can always take your bass down to the local fishmonger who, for a small fee, will gladly descale it for you.

Actually, Shatner and Nimoy were approached by Paramount records in the Autumn of '68 to record a Christmas album of duets.
Despite Shatner's extraordinary acting talent, he struggled to sing in key and regretfully, the producers had to scrap the project.
Another factor that contributed to this project's demise was the attempt to have George Takei play drums for the session. The producers thought it would be good marketing ploy to get as many Star Trek actors involved as possible. Nichelle Nichols is a competent vocalist and Walter Koenig is a decent guitarist, but Takei was a poor choice. Like many drummers, his timing was off, he played too loud and his fills were awkward and poor. The breaking point came when, during the twelfth hour of a fourteen hour session, he once again sabotaged "Oh, Holy Night" with a disastrous attempt at a disco reference. An angry producer screamed through the phones: "Sulu, NO!" which was interpreted as "solo now". The cacophony began and the studio emptied. The damage was done and none of the usual session aces would touch this poison even incognito.

A lot of people who consume mainstream media aren't aware that scientists in Switzerland at the CERN Laboratory recently conducted an experiment whereby they were able to use a .045 generic round wound G-string , (reportedly manufactured by D'Addario , although this remains unconfirmed) , as a low B-string (measured at a tension of 31.5 lbs whence tuned to pitch) , by converting it to a quasi-quantum , semi-supercritical fluid state of matter , and then wrapping the string in "Fanta Black" nylon to preserve the properties of the string at both an atomic and sub-atomic level. Apparently it had , "tone for days" , when strung on to a Darrin Huff 5 string which like the Spanish Basilica , "La Sagrada Familia" , had been under construction for over 135 years , and is anticipated to be fully completed by 2026!.......The Swiss researchers had previously attempted the experiment back in 2015 with a .043 Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flatwound G- string , but failed to achieve the desired result due to the lower tension , increased midrange presence , and general "je ne sais quoi" , of the string. A crack team of independent researchers in Russia who analyzed the data from the 2015 CERN experiment we're able to show in a controversial recently released peer reviewed paper , that based on a statistical analysis of the data produced by the experiment , it may have actually been the fine silk wrap on the Thomastik G-string which acted as a buffer or "sub-atomic control" , that prevented the .043 flatwound string from achieving a stable "quasi-quantum , semi-supercritical" state of matter that could withstand the general rigours of a standard bar gig and being left in a hot or freezing cold car overnight. It remains that all the scientific world hangs on tenterhooks as an American team attempts to sucessfully repeat the Swiss experiment.....

Playin' fiddle was his second calling, he was originally a drummer I swear.
