Always use a dummy load, when testing sensitive equipment before application or whenever you wish to take advantage of valve-driven amplification in a silent setting. These days, dummies are not too hard to come by so there's no excuse not to follow this advice.

High-profile dummies are the best — the higher the profile the better — as they tend to be much more consistent, rarely displaying any dissimilar characteristics, beyond profound dumbness. This makes them the ideal tool, whenever you require a seriously low noise floor.

Don't forget the gaffer tape — always comes in handy. And, dumb it down, every chance you get, by hook or by crook, if you're seeking perfection in signal transmission.
Blonde dummies are the best!

If you closely examine any picture of Lemmy playing
View attachment 3836662

You see that he moved the strap button on all his basses from the upper horn to the neck heel. This was to combat the neck dive for which Rickenbackers are so famous.

You can also see, around his neck, the Iron Cross his grandfather, Wolfgang von Lemmy won for creating a sonic weapon to disrupt the sleep of 'tommies' in the trenches of WW1. Von Lemmy later fell in love with his translator, Virginia Louden-Bass, during the investigation into the alleged war crime in 1919, married her and moved to Britain.

Zontar is not really from Venus!:roflmao:

Neither were David Bowie's "Spiders" actually from Mars. One was occasional ivory tinkler Rick Wakeman who was more associated with Brentford Football Club and conned by Mick Ronson into chartering a flight over the Stadio Artemio Franchi in 1954 to watch his beloved Brentford FC play Fiorentina in the Champions League. Once he realised it was actually a domestic reserves game, the irate Wakeman removed his wizard hat and literally pulled his hair out. The stunned fans were convinced they had seen a Martian UFO but the Carabinieri hastily, and erroneously, explained it as migrating spider silk. The Spiders From Mars were born.

I was thinking you were hankering on the
Zontar, the Thing from Venus theme. Now I could have completely missed the mark if you meant this Zontar!

This is a scam ad. I wrote to Zontar asking for Sean Ryder, but got Bez instead. As my band (a) were in desperate need of a mumbling vocalist and (b) were up to the hilt in wild-eyed, silent, goofy dancers - you can imagine our disappointment.

Yes, that must be it.

Also Dalí was the official designer for Musicvox, if I'm not mistaken.
You are. I believe the official designer is Midge Ure of Midge Ure and Associates, Vienna. Some also credit The Associates, but I had a shower, then phoned my brother up. Just as I started believing him, Brentford FC won The Cup again. They smashed it, apparently.

Midge Ure is a stage name composed of the name of Scotland's national insect and one of its rivers. His real name is John Elton and he is a cousin of comedian Ben Elton, but thought his real name would be confusing. Ure/Elton isn't even Scottish but thought that adopting a Scottish character when everyone in the New Romantic movement was wearing tartan would be a good move.

He toyed with some other ideas such as a Yorkshire character Gnat Ouse, and a Welsh one, Bee Aber, but the last one sounded like an admonition to be a Swedish pop group.

Sympathetic resonance is caused by mechanical coupling of strings. This can easily be eliminated by changing the string gauges multiplied by 1000, to prime numbers.
Sympathetic resonance is a result of coddling your bass. If you drop it a few times, spill beer on it, and use it to whack your guitar player, you will get unsympathetic resonance.
