Let's talk about cookies.

Here in Spain there isn't much selection, we get 2 kinds (or maybe three) of Oreo and one kind of Chips Ahoy.

On my first trip to the US, I came across...

Since then, each trip usually involves a cookie cargo in my return luggage :D

Sometimes, I love a little cookie with a little enduring mystery (and a little java) a little too much - the enduring mystery.

Sometimes, I make my own - organic coconut cookies with coconut cream, coconut-blossom sugar, coconut flakes, self-raising flour and cultured butter.

More often I go for corn thins - they're just like popcorn only better because they're toasty and they also dance with dips :woot:

Brand, generic, home made never met a bad one. I'm sure somebody somewhere has managed to screw them up, but not any I've ever eaten.

Never had an Otis Spunkmeyer offering in any variety that wasn't quite pleasing.

Since moving out of my parents house some decades ago I don't even put the baking powder/soda into chocolate chip cookie dough, since I prefer it raw (I suppose the paranoid should use pasteurized eggs going this way, I've never been bothered yet.) I don't even make the pretense of baking it. When slumming, I'll buy a tube of cookie dough from the store, even, but I prefer home-made.

My all-time favorite cookie is also not baked - the chocolate-peanut-butter oatmeal no-bake cookie (sometimes adulterated further with nuts or coconut.) A bit of stove-top preparation for the sauce and a lot of mixing, then dollop on wax paper and cool.

Then there are meringues in one direction and over-the-top brownies (gooey, please) in the other.
