I think I want to go 2 pickups on my bass. Anyone know if its possible to mount a realist lifeline on the full circle pickup (under the bridge foot) and still have it work? Never thought about it.
I think it might get a bit strange since the Lifeline has that slot. The Full Circle uses four piezo crystals arranged in a square. If one of the crystals is under the slot of the Lifeline, the sound of the Full Circle might be ugly (and this was the position where the Full Circle sounded best by itself on my bass). The (big) Lifeline might work better with a Yamahiko.
well, put them both on and they sound fine through an amp at home. I'm gonna test them on my gig tomorrow.
This is one of those things that shouldn't work in theory, but in practice, who knows? Let us know when you find out on the gig!
So.... Are the Piezo's on the Full Circle facing up towards the strings? And is the LifeLine above the Full Circle, so that the Piezo's are against the LifeLine, not the wood of the bridge? How does it sound?
I should try that. I have the LifeLine Have you found either pickup to have more output than the other? My FC has much more output than the LifeLine.
I have tried the Lifeline with an Underwood on the same bass through an AI head. The phase switch had to be engaged on one channel for the best sound. Later I realized that with the right strings the Lifeline was enough by itself. The Lifeline requires the higher impedance input of the AI head or a quality preamp for the best sound. I get better results (clearer, more natural/open sound) with the AI head and the Lifeline than I do with my Aguilar head. As for the Full Circle that I have on my other bass, it seems to work good on either of my bass amps.
