Light Basses

I've recently developed back problems and need something light. What manufacturer (if any) consistently makes basses at 8lbs or less?

The new Danelectros are pretty light. About 6 pounds.

If you can find one, the Bolin NS basses are pretty light. My fiver was 7.5 lbs.

CallowHill. His 5'ers are consistantly 7.5 lbs and his 4's are sometimes 6.5.

Gotta nominate Rob Allen and Cliff Bordwell. My Mouse 30 weighs 5.5lbs and my MB2 and Ball 4 weigh about 7.5ish.

I need to mention that I sell ash to Matt Pulcinella, Cliff Bordwell, CallowHill, Clement Basses, and several more. All of these guys really stress the weight factor on their instruments and all have tone that are unpararalled. I do not recommend getting ash chambered unless you are looking for "that" kind of tone.

Those are very light .....I had two. But I think you will only find used ones. It does not look like TBC is in business. Their web site has not changed in ages.

Look at Sadowsky, mine is around 7.5 lbs. If you look at the previously sold section on their web site it lists the weights of the instruments. I've even seen 5-strings Sadowsky basses listed that were under 8 lbs!

Check out www.theperfectbass.com for MTDs Kingston Artist and Z. I have 5-string Z5 that weighs around 8 lb, and all those models usually are around 8 lbs.

+1 on MTD. I have an MTD Beast that weighs in at a whopping 7.2 lbs.

my rickenbacker 4004cii weighs in about 7 lbs. danelectros about 5. and i have an aria sinsunido travel bass that i think weighs 3-4 pounds.

Honorable mentions to Pete Skjold as well as Sadowsky basses. Both of my 5 strings were at 8 or just under 8 lbs.
