Light gauge (45-100) for D standard

Hi, I’m just curious as to anyone with a preference or just experience playing light gauge strings (prosteels more specially) in D standard.
i do know of a bass player( Derek Boyer of Suffocation) who uses lights and I’m pretty sure they’re in C#, so it can be done, probably all in the setup…
