Light up

It's been years and years ago but while attending a show I noticed that as the bass player was playing, his speakers were lighting up. If I had to guess I would say that they were lighting up as he hit the limiters. Has anyone ever heard of a cabinet that lights up while playing, and if not, how do you think this might have been done?

many cabs use small light bulbs as fuses for the tweeters. that guy def needed to turn down. ha!

It's a lamp in the tweeter crossover circuit. Perfectly normal.

Does anyone have any recommend a cabinet or two with this feature. I would love to have one just for the novelty effect.

Acme uses (or used) bulbs in their crossovers. Freaked me out the first time it happened.

The older Fender Rumble 100 has a red light at the bottom that pulses along with your playing.

Ampeg SVT 410Hlf does that too. Imagine my surprise when it first did (was going all out with fuzz, modulation and feedback at the end of a show).

Eden D-series cabinets use a light bulb for the fuse. I believe it's the same lamp as Chrysler uses in the dome lights for the Voyager/Caravan mini vans...
