Lightest 7 to 800 watt bass head

Anything under 20lbs is light..and if you are looking at light for light sake, I think the priorities are a bit off.

FWIW, Demeter and Eich should be at the top of your list, imo.

GR Bass Mini One or Quilter BB80x or Trace Elliot Elf among others.

pretty sure the TE Elf is just 200w, not 7-800w as the OP is seeking.

coincidentally, I got to use an Elf (into a TE 2x8 cab) as the backline for a smallish festival gig yesterday. There was substantial FOH and good monitoring, but the Elf did a great job as a stage monitor. I was very impressed.

How strict is your definition of "lightweight"?
In other words, most amps (Aguilar, Mesa, Genzler and many of the other amps popular here) in that power range are roughly 5 – 6 lbs.
Would you automatically eliminate those in favor of a reliable amp that only weighs 4lbs?

If so, the Quilter Bass Block is your answer.


Again - sounds like the previous version of the Quilter Bass Block - the 800, is the one for you.
Fewer knobs than the 803, and it has an excellent reputation here.

What cabinet are you using?
Can we assume your overall goal (head & cab) is the "biggest bang" in the smallest lightest package?

yea the lighter the better. I use a GR Bass 112h for my bottom. Correct biggest bang. money no issue,

If my heads were any lighter I'd have to Velcro them to the cab in fear of losing them off the back mid gig. This includes a 40# tube head, just slowly dancing off the cab. I can recommend a lot of great lightweight heads but what is the heaviest you are willing to haul? Most class D jobs are lighter than a bass without its case and you only have to carry it from the car to the gig…

I don't know for OP's GR Bass 112h, but my GR Bass NF212V is vibrating a lot, I had problems with one of my amps which tended to slip.
Not the Quilter, thanks to its big rubber feets.

Get a rubber bar mat and put it under the amp.

That was not my point - I did get a foam pad for that other amp.
My point was that although the Quilter is the lightest of all, it's also super stable on top of any cab thanks to its big rubber feet.
