Sorry, no photos. (7lbs 3 oz) Precision Bass.

I bought a Warmoth P Bass swamp ash body that was something like 3 lbs 9 oz and had them finish it in surf green. An MIJ Allparts maple/rosewood neck.

I did everything that I could to get it as light as possible. I was disappointed that I was only 3.1 oz shy of hitting the 6 lbs + oz range.

Res O Lite tuners. Alloy neck plate. Aluminum chrome knobs. Oh, I was sooo close to cracking into the 6 lbs territory.

I thought about removing 2 of the 5 bridge screws. Going with aluminum strap buttons. Even getting rid of the tone pot and knob.

I saw a titanium bent plate bridge but they are REALLY expensive!

I guess I'll never own a sub 7 lbs Fender.

My bass looks like this............

Karlsson (19 05 17 02).jpeg

My LeFay Karlsson has some numbers to boast.
The body is a single piece of ash, the neck is padouk with carbon rods.
As you can see, it's a six string - and there's sustain for days and the low B is tight and angry - not floppy at all.
So without sacrificing playability, feel or tone, the guys at LeFay managed to make it weigh 8,245lbs

I thought abt the same thing. Warmoth offer chambered body for the J and P, also Maple fb might be lighter than rosewood.

Lace has the Aluma P pups that are lighter than regular bass pups.
Aluma P Bass Pickup

And yeah, Ive been wanting to try the GOTOH carbon fiber bridge and the tuners too

So, its a headless with a headstock?

Hey thx. mind sharing the specs of your Maru?

It's a Moped 5 model, chambered swamp ash body, "eye" poplar top, 1 piece maple neck with luminlay side dots, maple board, passive Delano Xtender split coil, hipshot hardware, 19mm @ bridge. I took a flyer without ever having played one....I always loved the Jag shape, but finding a light 5 er was not happening.....this bass exceeded all of my expectations. My only regret is that I didn't pony up for carbon rods or a 3 piece neck, and I live in a place where there are extreme temp and humidity shifts, so it needed a little rod tweak once it learned to call a Montreal winter home :-)
