Badass, TBird! I have a question though. Do the chrome pickup covers tend to affect the tone? Make it brighter or anything? Thanks!

Since this has already been necro'd, I'm gonna piggy back it. I came across a "custom shop" stamped Tbird in a pawn shop. Looks to be in good to very good shape. The rear strap button flanges had been pulled off (the screw and the shaft of the button were there, but the flange was gone all the way around it. Weird.) and it needed a set up. Is the only thing that makes it a custom shop special whatever the black paint? It was made in China, although I didn't catch the serial number. They were looking for $289 on it. Does that seem somewhat high or about right? Up until I saw this one I was more thinking of getting a Goth Bird and changing the pick guard so I wouldn't want to start drinking coffee, hanging out at Hot Topic and cutting myself.

I have a question about the neck. Is it the same of the most economical TBirds like this one?

The pickups are in evidence since it's the most recognizable part of that very model.

For the first time I found a black Epi Custom Shop on sale in Italy. I would even dare buying it online, but surely not if the neck is the same of this one. ^

I know this is an old thread but I figured this would be the best place to ask my question. I bought a Limited Edition/Custom Shop stamped Epi Tbird around 2010. It was originally a grey/silver color with grain showing thru when I bought it, but has since has more of a green tint to it. It usually stays in its case. Is this normal? While the "new color" is kinda cool, I loved the original look so it kinda annoys me.
The bass also has chrome pickup covers that say "Designed by Epiphone USA" , "Elektrisola Magnet Wire"- "Ceramic 8 Magnets" and "Double Vacuum Waxed". This info was on the stickers that were on the pickups, I kept those. Is this just a sales gimmick or something good? Are these any better than the regular, non pro/classic neck thru, Epi models?
Finally where are these basses made. I bought it because I liked the look and wanted to try out a Tbird.

I think what you have is the limited edition "TV Silver" version. It's pretty desirable for playability and quality of parts. According to Epi's website which is normally well known for being wrong, it uses TB Plus pickups.

Black is likely a Custom Shop color too, the only "standard" finish is S/B. Sorry but right now I'm not selling any of my babies, I'm kinda looking to add a Gibson Studio fiver

I've got a White LE Thunderbird that I really love to pay, even though I have several higher end basses. I'd like to upgrade the tuners on this bird, does anyone know of drop in replacements for these? I really don't want to have to rout the holes but I will if there's no other option. Thanks

Man I wish Nikki Sixx never started playing Thunderbird style basses. I know it's shallow and makes no sense...just like whenever I see a white explorer bass I think "Rick Savage" and sitting in my parents' living room in 1988 watching "Hard 60" on MTV where all they ever showed was that "Pour Some Sugar On Me" video ha ha...

Apparently his model plays itself.
