limited useage for replying to classified ads ?

Essentially limiting the classifieds from live responses creates a "static" selling environment which is a goldmine and breeding zone for scammers and unscrupulous sellers.

The only reason I support this forum is because of the awesome classified section. It is the best.

I would strongly suggest reviewing this latest decision.

My renewal is due in 4 days but I won't renew if the classified are static.

Just please fix the classifieds, we can only bump 1 ad a day so if we are selling 5 basses in seperate threads then we have to choose which one to bump each day. Also yes I want buyers to be able to ask questions. I can already tell the effect this is having is negative the classifieds are moving so slow, soooooooooo slow.

This needs its OWN THREAD so EVERYONE can know to do this (if they want "retro'" of course). Could be as high as a 10 to 1 ratio, possibly.

New classified format blows.
I just bought a custom bass here last month from a member and the builder of the bass chimed in on the thread and posted a link that showed pictures of the build process. I greatly appreciated that, and it definitely influenced me to purchase the instrument.

I would also support the reinstatement of comments on selling threads. They are the signature feature of the Talkbass classifieds.

Regarding the functionality of the new format, I'm going to reserve judgment until I've had more of a chance to play around with it. I like the new 'bump' function, but it obviously needs to not limit those selling multiple items to a single bump per day for *all* items. And for some reason, checking the 'keep me logged in' button doesn't seem to be keeping me logged in.

I actually like the idea of "one post per ad." I've got 132 positive feedback... so I've got a bit of experience selling gear on TB. However, I've always amazed by some of the questions or comments... both positive and negative... that get posted to listings.

I'm totally good with an interested buyer having to PM me for specific info. If a seller chooses to not post updated info... it only limits their ability to sell the item.

Some other bass forums I enjoy also use the same method.

Anyone who actually would like to BUY my gear would certainly PM the same question that might have previously have been publicly posted.

I also like the idea because now only the OP can bump the listing. Before, any seller with lots of "buddies" might have his ad bumped 3, 4, 5, times a day.

I share the opinions of those above and what appeaers to be the vast majority of the tb community. I can say that if the classifieds dont improve I will not be renewing my membership. Im confident though that this will be resolved and we just need to be patient. I do like seeing the price and picture, although it would be nice if it wasn't a uninteligable blurr.

I respect your experience and opinion on this 100%, and agree that for every system there are users who will take advantage of its "shortcomings", but have to say I am more than happy to see bumps (I agree with the one per 24 hour period enforcement) on the classifieds if it means we "get" to have public communication about the gear being sold. Users still have the choice to PM and carry on private dialog as they see fit. This only inhibits our ability to converse here, it doesn't liberate or enhance, IMO.

And yes! Thanks for listening and even more for acting quickly! People tend to grumble about mod/admin actions, but ive seen in the majority of instances those behind the wheel truly care and try to steer with grace and judiciousness. Thanks guys!

Can you make it so that we can reply to threads but not have it be bumped. Only the creator of the thread can bump in the 24 hr period. That will allow unlimited replies without bumping. Like a live chat format having and nothing to do with bumping. Most of the time, I get all the information I need about the product without having to pm or reply. It's very important to me that I have access to the opinions of some of the most knowledgeable people in the world when it comes to basses. I don't just go on TB to buy and sell. I come to share with a community of people that can appreciate my same interests. If I wanted to just buy and sell, Ebay will do the job so please fix it and reunite the community. Thanks
