line 6 g90 delay , really?

after reading several reviews, and reading the threads on talk bass i decided to pull the trigger on a line 6 g90 wireless unit. got it early feb 2012, practiced a couple times, no probs, all of a sudden the cut outs began, nothing major at first, just split second cut outs, hardly noticed them at first. last night at practice, complete cut outs, i mean the green bars turned red, cut out for a couple seconds at a time consistantly, i couldn't have been more than 5 ft from the reciever at this point. i have changed absolutely nothing on my set up other than adding this unit to my rack. that was it for me, it's on a ups truck back to musiciansfriends as we speak, they will replace it, i will give the new one a shot, but any hint of this problem and back it goes, refund please!!!!!!!! just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this, this unit was brand new out of the box... obviously those problems i had read about and supposedly line 6 had fixed has not been fixed..... you think you pay 600.00 bucks for something it would work for more than a couple months before it craps out...

Try running it at half power as well, playing too close to the receiver might be overloading it.

Outside of the little clip that keeps the battery door breaking off, I have had no problems with my g30. Ive gigged with it and it worked flawlessly. Contact Line 6 or where you bought it immediately. Maybe you got a faulty unit and they can replace it right away.

Hi. Ok I need to respond to this as I have had mine for a while and recently been having problems with it. It seems to be with the lead from the jack plug to transmitter. I ordered a made to measure off eBay. Ended up sending it back as it kept slipping out the input. Got a replacement and it's a lot better on the slipping out part. But I went back and used the original line 6 lead, it was better but still had drop outs. As a last option before I get the input looked at I ordered a line6 angled lead I found on google. And fingers crossed that does the job. Lol

that's the one flaw i've found with the 50/90 beltpack; the jack is plastic, and if it gets stripped out, the little cable will no longer lock solidly into it.

the jack section is modular and removable, so a good tech should be able to replace it after you get one from line 6. (it's a bitch to do on your own, though; open the thing up and there's lots of tiny, easy-to-lose and hard to fit back together parts.)

this was my solution:

now my cable is positively locked into the beltpack.

it was a bitch to do, and not without its own drawbacks: i hadn't secured the jack in the case as solidly as i thought (the surround is just rubber) and after a good year of working perfectly, an accidental hard yank at a gig ripped the jack right out, breaking the connecting wires

i was able to repair it later, and (i hope) find a way to lock the jack into the unit more strongly, but it does make me wonder if the stock "breakaway" cable connection might have an advantage after all.
