Line 6 HX Stomp

Probably not, as that would preclude the ability to bypass/enable blocks on footswitch press vs. release. Any time you add a press-hold, double-press, or double-switch function, you lose the ability to engage something immediately upon press.

Understandable. I know the Line 6 team reserved several MIDI commands specifically for future use, any chance some of those were for these additional blocks?

Question for the Stomp gurus. A little background for context all of my bands are ampless/IEM. I want to set up a patch that emulates Geddy’s signal path...not so much his tone more just how he gets it all from point A to B. I’ve attached a diagram of his signal path for reference. Basically it’s split 3 ways with path A being an OD sound >FOH, path B DI>FOH and path C clean through the Palmer Cab sim>FOH. I don’t think you can do 3 splits on the Stomp. I could utilize 2 channels for FOH with a stereo DI but I’d rather control the mix between paths myself and go from the Stomp>Radial J48 DI>FOH. I also have a Radial Mix Blender and think maybe I could put that between the Stomp and the J48 to mix the 2 paths. I don’t use any effects so path A (OD) would most likely be a Sansamp or Obsidian and path B being the SVT 4>dual cabs (4x12 and 2x12)....experiment for flavor. Any thoughts or tips greatly appreciated. Waste of time...overkill....better way?as it stands now I just go L/mono out>DI>FOH. Thanks in advance!!View attachment 3684546

Just thinking out loud here.
clean path comes out of an effects send block
tube amp sound gets panned hard left
distorted amp sound gets panned hard right.

it wouldn't leave a ton of room for other sounds but the routing is definitely possible.

I went totally the other direction and installed one of those Loknob things (now distributed by D'Addario) because my cable kept catching the volume knob on my Stomp. Now it only moves when I want it to. :)
I went the other other way and changed the settings so the volume knob only affects the headphone out, then I leveled the output on all of the presets I use by adjusting the output on that last block on the right.

If you do not mind me asking...which size Loknob did you use on the Stomp? I put a couple of rubber O-rings under my volume knob to keep it from turning easily, but that doesn't work under all circumstances. I may try a Loknob.

I got the Disaster Area DMC.micro and have it setup up working on the Stomp with the default options for the buttons, which appear to be:

Tap Left: Preset Down
Tap Right: Preset Up
Hold Left: Bypass
Hold Right: Preset Mode?!

I'd like to get into custom options here, mostly changing the hold option to scroll through display modes (stompbox, snapshot, etc). Is there like...a guide for idiots?

Anyone using Boss EV-30 exp pedal with HX Stomp?

My old Roland EV-5 won't work unless I mod it, which I'm not comfortable with. I've tried Korg EXP-2 and Dunlop DVP4 in the past with HX and they work, but both pedals are not available in any store near me. Mission Engineering is guaranteed to work, but couldn't justify the price tag. Boss EV-30 is quite affordable

You can pick up a used Mission helix pedal for $90-105, I'd go that route personally. I tried a few pedals (not the Boss unfortunately), including moding them to work, and there was always a bit of problems. Not a full sweep range, having to unplug/replug it in, etc.

Finally got a Mission EP1-L6, non-toe-switch version, off Reverb for $95. Looks new, and works flawlessly. Cry once, be happy, and never second guess your expression pedal :bassist: wish I had done that from the start

Noted on the used Mission pedals, unfortunately they rarely showed up in my area, and purchasing it online from outside of my country is out of the question thanks to the new customs tax law

Will keep my eye on one if it ever show up, cheers

There is actually! You’ll want to turn preset mode off and utility mode on first, but Disaster Area lists numerous “recipes“ here you can use to set certain parameters:

This signal path can be easily emulated on the stomp. You don't need 3 paths but just 2 in fact.
If you look to the schema you see that the tube driven sound is derived from the clean tone. As everything goes to PA at the end you can just make 2 paths on the stomp:
- one for clean tone
- one for Overdrive + tube

The only drawback is that if you're using together OD and tube you won't have the same sound as if they were on 2 separate paths. But if you tweak it right you can certainly approach the goal.
If OD + tube at the same time is not a concern then no issue at all !

EV-30 works nice for me. I don't remember which HX is connected to which jack (I have it connected with HX Fx and Stomp at the same time), but it works nicely with Stomp. You might have to play around with inverting polarities and trimming, but after that it's precise and indestructble.

The small version is the one I used. I also actually prefer the less expensive, plastic version to the more expensive version. It seems like the plastic one clicks through settings smoother than the metal version, yet it still locks nicely. The set screw on the plastic one also works better with the way the half shaft was oriented on my Stomp.

I’ve tried that too but I use the master volume quite often when practicing at home. It’s nice to have it still adjustable, but also easily lockable.

Thank you, @Chad T! I'm going to grab one.

Ok guys, been awhile since I used external footswitches with my Stomp. I have reassigned the tuner to FS5 (Im using a Dual Footswitch connected via TRS cable). The tuner activates when clicked, and then goes away when clicked again, but then after a couple seconds, comes back on without me activating the switch.

I remember this being an issue before with some people but cant remember the resolution. I tried reversing polarity. Also tried using FS4 instead of FS5. Also tried using a TS cable rather than TRS. What am I missing?
