Line 6 wireless, really that good?

I use a rubber band around round mine. Btw don't expect Line 6 to help you out if the battery door does break on yours. Your on your own unless you pay for the repair or buy another transmitter. Very bad customer service.
Really? I called them once to buy a door for my old X2 which I bought before Line 6 bought them. I fully expected to pay for it but they sent me one free. Turned out it didn't fit because they made some slight changes to the dimensions, but I thought that was a really nice thing they did, so I'm very surprised to hear this.

A sales rep (not music related) I see at work just told me he picked up one of these. He does a ton of local gigs on acoustic and with a full band. He was convinced after trying the unit his bass player bought. He had nothing but good things to say about it and had all but sworn off wireless before trying it. He had his doubts but said he was able to travel both outdoors and upstairs at a local venue while trying his bassists and still managed a clear signal, minus the "swooshiness" that he's experienced with other units.

Been using a G30 for quite some time now with no problems whatsoever. Much better than the much more expensive Shure U4S system it replaced. I've been using the same four rechargeable AA's since I got it.

Bumping this thread as I recently had a big problem with my G30 - It's been flawless up until now. I remember reading about others experiencing wifi interference and, even in similar circumstances as described back then, I had never ran into the same thing. I recently bought a GoPro Hero 3+ Black to record, among other things, band performances. With the camera's wifi turned on so that I could control it with my phone, it rendered my G30 absolutely unusable. So no wireless for me when I'm trying to use my GoPro via wifi.

Given that I've posted several positive comments on this forum involving the "flawless" performance of the G30, I thought I should mention this. Anyone experience this with the G50 or other digital wireless systems? Wondering if it's limited to the G30 especially now that there are other digital wireless units to chose from than Line 6.

That's a bummer. I was about to order one and then was rethinking about trying one of the Samson units - not their cheap one but their higher end one - can't remember model number.

did you try different channels on the g30?

this is the curse of modern digital wireless, it's on the same 2.4GHz wi-fi band as everybody's cell phone and everything else.

I had the G50 and it worked great. The only flaw in the unit was the battery door. Its a very poor design. After a while it will not lock properly and you’ll have to use a rubber band around it to hold it closed. I contacted Line 6 about this and they wanted to charge me to fix this defect. Line 6 does not stand behind their products. If they were a stand up company they should have had a recall or at least fix the defect for free. For that reason I will never purchase Line 6 products.

Agree. Similar issue for me with interference from our digital board's wifi. At least I thought that was the source. I changed from channel 1 to 6 and haven't had an issue since, which has been many months.

I was having interference problems with my wifi used for my console and DBX PA2. I moved those to a 5G wifi router, and now zero interference with my line 6. I did however have to turn off the 2.4G radio button on the router as it is a dual 2.4/5Ghz router. The router and line 6 live in the same rack right next to each other.

Guitar Center is presently running a sale on the G50, $288, down from $399. (Or blemished for $253.80). I do have a question, has anyone who bought and uses the G50 (or G30)
also purchased a 2nd transmitter? I did with my Nady unit (now on mothballs!) so that I could swap out basses quicker. I'm sure the 2nd transmitter can be bought but are they
expensive? The Nady has a Standby mode for the transmitter, I'm assuming the G50 transmitter does as well?

I'm not sure what they cost everywhere else, but Sweetwater sells the G30 transmitter for $149.99 and the one for the G50 is $199.99.

Nice price on the G50 - that's less than I paid for my G30 when they first came out.

Sure did. Was a problem on every channel. Shame since it sounds awesome and has been the best wireless I've ever had otherwise.
Wireless interference dropout is pretty simple to understand. It's the law of the jungle.. the strongest signal wins. If you are getting dropouts on every channel on the G30, then you have "stronger" interfering signals coming from somewhere else. It could be broadcast TV, or simply due to the 2.4Ghz phones at the location. Doesn't make it the fault of the G30.
The pro's do frequency scans at venues to find conflicts, then set their wireless devices to avoid them. On a touring show, there can be many, many wireless devices in use.. from stage/crew comms, to band wireless, IEM's and various other devices.
Local bands are a microcosm.
Do the dropouts occur at one specific venue or location, or all over ?

Yeah, the camera is 802.11n, so it is using 40 MHz of bandwidth instead of 20. Instead of using channels 1, 6, and 11 like normal wifi on 2.4 Ghz, you can only use 1 and 11 to minimize interference. 2.45 GHz is an ISM (industrial, scientific, medical) band, one of ten or so, where unlicensed operation and tolerance to interference are legal and expected. With every venue supporting wifi now, I'm surprised the wireless instrument units haven't just moved up to the 5.8 Ghz ISM band.

Warning: These do not work in the home plate area at Houston's Minute Maid Park(aka Black Hole for wireless systems per their resident sound guy) but my old Sennheiser 172 and our keyboardist/guitarist's Shure do.

We did a thing there and the Line 6 was getting static interference on all channels so the Sennheiser came out after seeing my buddy's Shure working fine.
