Line6 G50 wireless - cable issue...warning

i had one of those for a minute (until someone stole it), and I bought a few shure cables off amazon and they were much nicer in my opinion. They also had angled ends (which I prefer). I paid about $20 each before shipping, and I have a couple more that I never got to use. PM me if you're interested in buying one. The model is WA304 if you'd rather find one yourself.

I own two of these Shure WA304 cables. I think the cable the G50 comes with is garbage, and should be a spare at best.

For $20 each, you can beat them.

Another recommendation for baldybass on ebay. I LOVE my G50, but when I was buying it, I saw a ton of negatives on the cable, and found a number of recommendations here for him.
Baldybass wasn't the _quickest_ shipper, but he's coming from UK, he communicates well throughout the process, and the quality is untouchable. (And as far as the shipping, it was about a week from the UK to East Coast US, and I'm spoiled by getting almost anything overnight or 3 days from Amazon Prime.)
Happily, that has become one piece that I can happily just take for granted.

I agree that it's a shame that such a great product is marred by such an easily fixed issue, especially considering it's an issue that they essentially created deliberately seeing as the g30 just has a damned jack, but it's not insurmountable.

Maybe it's a bit lowbrow for you, but I've found my solution to be incredibly effective; I was getting the same dropouts due to the connection wiggling, so I superglued it in place and shortened the cable and replaced the jack with a female jack.

I bought mine used, and it came with the default cable and a nicer one (not line6, I think), and despite obvious differences in build-quality, I had the same issues with them both. So, by all means try a nice cable, but I don't know if that will fix your problem. I've been actively gigging and rehearsing with it like this for a little over four months, and keeping it in my softcase pedalboard when not in use, and it's weathered the abuse easily.

Somebody should make one with a coil cable so the connectors don't get tugged on as much.

I know, I hate coil cables too, but to save the connectors I would tolerate a short length of it.

Cable going bad is a pain, but it would be worse if the jack on the unit went out.

Same here.
So far 1 has gone out after about 100+ shows, fortunately during a soundcheck so I grabbed the spare I bought. Next day I ordered another new one and the failed one got tossed into the "fix later if you ever get time" box.

Somebody should make a wireless connection instead of a cable :ninja:
Just make a large route on the back of the bass body and wire the Line 6 transmitter in permanently....

PS: Our guitarist got a Line 6 G55 that is the G50 transmitter with a METAL INPUT JACK finally!!!

Love mine, but I'll order the next one without the "silent" plug because I find that I generally turn off the transmitter before I unplug the instrument...

Cable made, slightly longer...didn't want a 1 meter long cable though, that's too much. If you decide to make one, the plastic retainer on the rean (2 sizes come with it) the blue one is the largest, will not completely fit with a typical cable jacket, so shaving the jacket with a razor will make it fit better. I also used the neutrik silent jack.

The G50 I bought 6 or 8 months ago has the metal jack.

I get custom length, any connector, from Event Horizon.

I have a TA4F to 1/4" Silent Right Angle (connect an instrument to Line 6 G50 Transmitter).

Another TA4F to XLR (connect a Mic to Line 6 G50 Transmitter).

A few back ups.

All from the same maker. He'll make you ANYTHING you want. Fast turnaround, high quality.

now that's kinda cool.

it's not too heavy and floppy?

It's a bit floppy because it's a bit too long but not obnoxiously so...

I don't notice the extra weight if there is any.

I have the transmitter on the strap and move it from instrument to instrument, no problems so far.

It might be possible to catch the hanging coil onto something if one moves around a lot while playing.

I don't, so no bother for me...

Quality construction, looks cool.

I'm gonna re-measure and get a slightly shorter than standard one if I ever need another.

I replaced the included switching plug with a Neutrik R/A non switching plug because it's
unnecessary for me because I turn off the transmitter anyway when I swap instruments.

All and all, a good spend.

I ordered a couple of these:

No matter what you order it's going to fail sooner or later and I'd rather have those little disasters as infrequently as possible.

I don't mind paying for a handmade cable that uses the best components.

I noticed the problem with my original cable that led to its demise was that it was a little too short for where I wear my transmitter. The constant tugging on the connectors just took its toll.

Lucid was able to make me a custom length so that should solve that problem too.

Gigged this for the first time last night. It functioned perfectly as a brand new cable should. 36" is right for me as I can wind it around and through my strap and leave a little loop at the top for stress relief.
