+1 to all of thisI think I'm liking the idea of using snapshots to make changes without needing to go to an entirely different patch. The Boss GT-1B has limited on-the-go switching, and I think I could use the snapshots to vary the texture of my tone during songs without having to switch back and forth in the banks.
I've been very satisfied with the Boss unit so far, but now that I've started to add in some effects, I think I'd like to have a bit more options while performing without too much menu (bank) changing.
This is all predicated on the idea that we get to perform live again sometime soon. This down time is probably one of the bing reasons why I've even started to consider making any changes to my rig. If I was still performing regularly, I don't think I'd be as inclined to be looking for alternatives because what I have now is working very well for my cover band situation.
Snapshots, once you get everything programmed, are a HUGE advantage over the totally useable but kinda clunky switching of the more affordable offerings.
As a side...I saw a local band last summer. They were just drums and bass. The bass player had a lot of sonic territory to fill and did so really well. Sounded great, too. Afterwards I went up to give he and the drummer some props and noticed he was using the gt-1b. Maybe the player has something to do with it after all!
