I'm in a band called Five Alarm. We haven't been very active this year, but at the beginning of the year we were invited to be the "guinea pigs" for an audio production class at a local college.
We couldn't pass that up.
The recording session was interesting. Normally, ideally, the drums and bass are recorded at the same time, but the drummer is a firefighter - Five Alarm is a legit name - and because of his on-call schedule, he couldn't make it to the recording session. So it was myself and the two guitar players recording with no drums. The click track, and our memory of what the drums sound like that would be our guide. I think we did really well. Drums were recorded a couple of weeks later.
I think it turned out pretty darned good.
PS: I'm playing Reno, my trusty 84 Peavey first gen Fury, complete with home made pick guard. I absolutely LOVE this bass. The feel. The sound. It resonates so well I can play it without an amp and still hear every note.
