no need to apologize, I did the same thing and still did not like The LmII. Just not for me, tonewise. I'm not alone either - there are usually a couple for sale here on a weekly basis.

Little Mark II, please accept my apology.

I actually didn't like MB either at 1st. I tried the bright yellow "Little Mark" which had only the ONE 'filter' ..... dunno NOW if it was my fluffing the controls or whether it just sounded bad-probly was ME!!! Still I'm glad I waited & got a LMII rather than IT - THEN!
the LM II is a solid head, but i personally prefer the F-1.

Actually I did a poll and found that more people use/like the LMII over the shuttle. That could also be because the LMII has better distribution in Europe and in the US Guitar Centres.
I love both amps tonally, but find the LMII to be louder and cleaner, which works better for me.
I also initially did not like the LMII when I tried it out in-store. I found it a little dull sounding. But then all these LMII love threads kept coming up on TB and I gave it another shot, but this time with an epi cab instead of MB cab. So glad I did.

I get compliments on my sound through this rig like, "your bass sounded the best I've ever heard it", but I played through a well used Ampeg solid state head (B2) and a 4x10 Classic a few times years ago and there was something about its mid-range, slightly overdriven sound that I loved. It didn't have 1/2 of the low end of my rig, but the frequency niche it had was perfect to my ears at least from an 'on stage' perspective and I was able to keep the volume much lower and thus leave space for the other guy's instruments. I've tried tweeking my rig to get that effect and haven't seemed to be able to reproduce it yet. I'm really happy with my rig and have no plans to make any drastic changes to it, but I do stay curious of that one Ampeg rig.

How do you have this setup - does the second 12 have a tweeter? Are you running through both Amps at the same time?
Wow my Goliath II sounds great with this head at least given that I can A/B it to something else - I know all opinions are somewhere subjective - but if the Avatar is that much better I want to hear it. I know the Goliath II is old - so now I am thinking which newer Cab to get. So many opinions so little time and money. I have read the Aggy 12's rock with this head the Berg AE410 - now the Avatar. Problems is finding somewhere to try them all and make a choice.
I run into the TA501 which powers the Berg 1x12s (4 ohms and the EX has the tweeter on slightly less than half. I go out of the TA501 send pre eq to the main input of the LMII which runs the Acoustic 2x15 which was recently reloaded with Eminences. In practice I usually leave one Berg at home with the LMII and power the Acoustic with a SWR 350.
Cool - when you go through the LMII - is the input pre or post eq - thought it was pre by default?

Yes but mine has some Celestion Prototypes that Celestion made for Dave at Avatar to the exact specs of the Eminence, except these handle 300 each instead of 250 so it's a 600 watt cab.

Yup. 529 shipped with the rack ears, 534 without the rack ears. Probably a glitch, but hey, they can pay me 5 bucks to take a set of rack ears off of them any day.
Yeah, going out of the TA501 is pre eq, then into the LMII which I eq different for the 2x15. The LMII and the Berg 12 stack is incredible on its own. Usually enough juice for most of my gigs, but seeing as I'm not the one responsible for moving the whole rig, I usually just tell the guys to move the whole thing. Usually a bit of overkill, but the 2x15 does add a component of massiveness to the game.
