That doesn't up the value by $100 though, if anything, maybe he'd break even. That bass should be about ~$400 used.

Maybe he bought it from a local shop that charged a lot for it. I know my local stores charge the list price on instruments. Squiers in my town cost $400. That Aerodyne would cost about $900 in my local stores. So maybe he bought it locally and got ripped by a local store.

I don't know. This is NY and a shop charging list price wouldn't last very long considering the competition
