I recently bought a German bow which is heavier than standard, as well as extremely long. (Almost 170g!) The current case I am using only fits the bow because the case is broken at the top, allowing the tip of the bow to come through the case. I have tried my current teachers double bow case ( which he uses to hold is over 230g German bow), and my bow still does not fit. I was interested in a few cases online (Specifically the Kolstein double bow case, but am worried that the case will not be long enough. Does anybody happen to have this case and can measure the space the bow will fit in? Or can anybody recommend me a long bow case? (I am mostly interested in a double case, and am not interested at all in one of the tube cases unless it is the only option.) The case recommended by the seller of the bow is a Chinese made knockoff of the case he had, but I’d like something a bit nicer if that is possibl.
Thanks,
Tony Suarez

That's my old Burdell Tenney bow, so everybody behave....

I would not take the screw out myself. You don't want to mess with the ivory IMO.

I had it on one of these, and I know the OP didn't like the options above, but... (get the solid black one)

The Pedi bow tube should be long enough: Link Removed

(Tony if you can find anything else, let me know and I send you one of the long cases I have.)

PS:My Kolstein and Jens Paulus bows are almost as long (the Renata Gonski bow is @ 4" shorter)

*update* the pedi tube came in today, and is a beautiful case, but is still too short for the bow. I considered cutting a hole in the fabric top of the case to allow the tip to go through, but dont know that it will even help. Cutting a hole through the top would render the rosin holder useless. ( which isn't too big of a deal, I always have the space in my bag).

I think that would be ok; maybe keep a little foam in the pocket. I wish they'd said these things in the description; but thank for taking care of the bow.

PS: FYI- Tenney was a fairly collectible California "pleine aire" artist whose work is in several museums. He also did a lot of repair and restoration work for a violin dealer here in LA (who shall remain nameless). Tenney's work was (supposedly) so good that he (allegedly) made reproductions for this dealer that were (possibly) sold as originals (is that safe enough??)

Update again,
It turns out the piece between the top (where the rosin is held)
And the bottom (tip of the bow)
Was just a piece of cardboard with fabric top and bottom, and I pushed out. The bow now fits, and I can probably reglue the card board slightly higher,so that I can still store rosin. Thanks all!
Ps. @LouisF Do you know any more about his other bow work?

I know the person from the Seattle Symphony that I bought the bow from had seen some of his violin and cello bows, but didn't know about any other bass bows. Again, I think he was very good at copying master/antique bows.
