Well the Labella Deep Talkin' Flats are a winner for my Diamond P5. Sliky smoooooth, and nice round tone.

What gauge did you get? How's the tension?

.043 .060 .082 .104 .128 I like the tension, but I don't do much bending at all. I play mainly old school 60's 70's rock. I will have more thoughts after Saturday.

Thomastik Infeld Jazz Flats - they're a little pricey but the feel and sound incredible and will last a very long time. IMO they are a great value due to how long they last. I use them on all my basses. Modulus Q5, Ric 4003, MIA Jazz, Warmoth Fretless J-bass. Fingers and slap . . .

A little pricey for me. Plus FLATS get BETTER with age anyway. I've had EBMM Group IV flats on my SR5 for over a year, and they feel and sound GREAT!

Well I gigged my DP5 for 2 solid sets with the Labellas and I'm not sure if these are the string for me or not. They were quite boomy compared to my SR5 with EBMM Group IV flats.
I might have to mess with the EQ on my amp, but honestly if I need to do that, then maybe I need a flat with a little more highs. Any suggestions? Remember they need to fit 35 scale.

D'Addario Chromes (Extra Long)
Rotosound Jazz Bass 77's (same length as La Bella Long Scale, extra long is longer)
EB Flats (as you already have used)

Those are the three brightest true flatwound strings that will fit. (fender too short)

EB flats only come in Long Scale, but Ernie Balls Long Scale is 37.25" Ball to Silk on the flats...

La Bella Long Scale = 37"
La Bella Extra Long = 38"

Rotosound Long Scale = 37"
Rotosound Extra Long = 39"

Yeah looks like you purchased the 37" Long Scale La Bella's so the Ernie Ball will fit.

The Ernie Balls are just slightly longer than the La Bella's you have on there now!

Hmmmmmm....I might have to try a set then. I'm going to leave the Labella on for the next couple gigs, because I think the room last night was a little boomy. Very high ceiling, and no carpet. Everything was hard.

Well I think I've figured out what was causing the overtone issue. I usually really push the the TUBE pre on my STM-900 by really CRANKING the gain. Well last night I dis-engaged the boost button, and ran it completely clean. I have to say I really liked the sound much better, and NO OVERTONES! I actually liked it better with my SR5 as well. Seemed a little more refined.

So it looks like the Labellas will be staying.
