Long Scale Neck on Bronco Body?

Would this work? If I have a Mighty Mite Jazz neck, could I put it on a Bronco body?

You have to see if the bridge can be moved back far enough to get the 34 scale, or else ur intonation will be messed up. Hopefully its possible,however I've never seen it done.Good luck to you

There's plenty of room to move the bridge back. Routing for the wider neck is the only problem.

A minor problem compared to there not being room,its easier to take away wood then to add any.

Any advice from our luthier friends? Best way to widen a neck pocket? Dremmel? Sandpaper?

Also planning on putting in a rail pickup and upgraded tuners in there to spice things up a bit.

There's nothing better than a really sharp chisel, a good eye and a steady hand.

I would mark both sides with tape to ensure I take the same amount of material from each side.

Yeah, you can also use a router or a dremel, but think of all the electricity you'll be wasting!

I think I'm going to be getting this Bronco on the cheap, so it'll be a fun experiment.

If it works out, I think it'd be pretty sweet.

Rail pickup?

I'm thinkin' the rail because of the noise aspect, but I have no experience with lipstick pickups. They noisy?

Between the two, I think the rail would be cooler. Less noise, and looks better IMO.

BTW, what color scheme did you have in mind for this project?

I went with a full size blade humbucker in mine, you only need to trim the pickguard to fit. It was $26 shipped on feebay. Of all my many basses my Bronco which is the cheapest bass I own now is by far my best sounding. I am thinking about ordering one of these pickups for my Mustang.

I did a quick layout in CAD and it looks like it should work. Might get fairly neck-divey though. I laid the Jazz neck into the existing neck pocket location, there appears to be enough room for the bridge.

The one I'm looking at is black w/ white pg. The neck has a Maple FB.

I was thinkin the rail pickup would look pretty sweet in there as well.
