Long scale strings on shortscale Ibanez EHB1000s?

I Have I shortscale ibanez EHB1000s. I wonder if I can use long scale strings on it since you cut the string short and don't wind the string.
The ball end attaches at the bridge.

I just changed strings on mine and it works fine. (Exl 170 d'addario)

Love talkbass. I've had my EHB1000S for a couple year but only use it when I travel, so just changing strings for the first time and I came on here with this exact question!

You should be ok as long as you stick with hex-core strings. Round core strings could get unstable if cut shorter than they're intended to be, as in the core wire slipping under the winding.

I put on Harley Benton long scale flats. Worked great! I put the same strings on my headless with status hardware. It too worked great!

Just threw some SIT roundwounds (long scale) on that I had laying around. No problems at all, except I did have to tighten down the E string quite a bit to keep it from slipping.
