Started with a Lyle bass in 1972 when I was 13 or so, *think* the first song I learned to play along with was Deep Purples "Smoke on the Water", but it might have been any one of a number of Hendrix, Cream, or CCR's songs. Have ended up regretting selling almost every fender bass I ever owned over the years, except the really heavy ones, as well as my mid 1970's autumn glo rick, and a teal pedulla rapture 4, that was very light. Got into chasing down vintage fender basses in the early 1990s, prior to discovering their vintage tone and light weight, I had been a fan of the heavy ash bodied early to mid 1970s p's & j's in american walnut, natural or blonde. I am also in the minority in that I prefer the 1.625 B neck nut width over the 1.500 A and 1.750 C necks. (not that there's anything wrong with that) The amp combo that stuck with me the longest was the acoustic 371 (370 amp 301 cab) from 1976? until 1986 or so. Talk about "this one goes to 11!", rarely needed to turn it up over 5 or so. My favorite vacuum tubes for bass are the GE 6550a, kt88, 8417, and WE 300.
Have decided to actually come out of the shadows, join & become a supporting member, & maybe contribute some input, and finally, offer up a few of my basses for sale here, as long term unemployment has me making some painful decisions on which basses to sell off in the coming weeks and months. While I am new here, I have been an ebay member since May of 1999, and have lots of feedback buying, selling, trading using the same login name at the following places.
