True. I borrowed the acronym from the DB forums. I'm not throwing down on Ric quality, but it was used to refer to a stand-up acoustic bass that was so crappy, it didn't qualify as a 'real bass'...

I had Ric make me 4003s back in the 80's, and the color was very similar. My 2014 4003 is more red (much like many of the basses posted previously) and definitely does not have that dark edge. Very handsome!

What is the hype over Ric's these things? It's not my thing, but why is it yours? What makes you want such a beautiful beast of a thing? Is it like an artist thing, where they had it, and that's why you want one? I mean, I have a thing for similar gear to my influences. (Stingray that kinda resembles Timmy C's and a Les Paul that kinda resembles Adam Jones'). Is it a tone thing? (More of my thing with my things is tone, aesthetic is second by far!!)

Well Lemmy had one. I just wanted a different colour. Had to wait until someone invented Internet to get one.

Yeah, looks like a cheap 0.03$ Dunlop copy and not a real genuine 0.05$ Dunlop.

It is actually not just genuine Dunlop, it is also vintage Dunlop, since its one of my original Dunlops from nineties. I haven't used it that much until a year or two ago thought.

Nice looking Thing... I've got my eye on a different kinda thing.. Spalted Maple Ibanez... maybe in a month or so. The first thing I plan on buying with the first months truck payment I no longer have to make yeah!

4 strings are for the purist. Don't feel bad.. 5 and 6 string basses booger me up.

I am not abandoning 6 string thought. Fretless thing is def on active duty.
