I will let the picture do most of the talking!
I have wanted one of these badly for many, many years. I either didn't have the money, or they were very beat up or in a finish I didn't want. I HAD TO HAVE a maple fingerboard. I have played it for a couple of hours yesterday. It sounds so good. Very strong output. The active 3 band EQ is very loud. The pickups sound so good by themselves or mixed together. The bridge pickup alone eq'ed right sounds like a Stingray. Of course the precision pickup pumps out deep thick rich tones. It sits well on your shoulder without any noise dives ( I use a Levi's all leather strap that is 3"). This bass is a 2007 and features the hipshot tuners, I personally like the tuners on my American Deluxe Jazz 5 (Amber) better. I do like the longer posts though. It didn't come with the case I was expecting though, It came with the new Fender rectangular one instead of the guitar shaped case. Thats great but its really big and I don't have a lot of extra space. The handle on it is all rubber and feels great in your hands, there is a ton of storage space, the the latches are great also. I do not regret the purchase at all! I am very happy to call it mine.:bassist:

I am from Toledo, Ohio and often browse GC.com's used inventory. I saw this bass at the Scanton, PA store. I called and told them that I had to have it. I asked a few questions about what shape it was in, if there were any mods done to it, and other stuff like that. The guy I talked to was the guy that bought it into the store. He said that the guy that owned it traded it in as well as another American Deluxe Precision in Amber. He, the previous owner said that he wanted to trade up to a Musicman bass of some sort. I paid for it and had it sent to my Guitar Center in Toledo to be picked up. I don't want to do anything but play the mess out of it, but I have other things that meed to be done first....stupid chores. Anyway if you are the guy from Scranton, PA.......... Thank you so much!!!!!

Oh yeah bro, they are basses to last a life time! I don't really care for the 2010 Deluxe Precision bass much because they removed the bridge humbucker and put in a jazz pickup. They also don't make it in a five string option any more. I do like the active/passive switch that they put in though.

sorry, not to jack your thread but I have a related question. I have had GAS for this same bass for a while. I really want a precision. I currently own a MIA jazz w/s-1. I am considering selling it to pick up one of these bad boys. Do you think it is more versatile as far as range of tones than the s-1 jazz? My ideal pair of basses would be a p and a j. The j would be used for tunes where slap is called for while the p would do basically everything else. Since the american deluxe has the bridge humbucker, I think it would fit the bill for my slap chores, while the p pickup could handle the rest. What do you think, keep the j and save up, or make the switch??

In my honest opinion, I believe that this bass could hold an entire set down without changing basses. It has solid thump from the precision pickup for the rhythm stuff and a very bridge humbucker that sounds awesome for slap work. As a matter of fact both pickups played together work well for slapping also. With the 3 band onboard preamp it just gives you more to play with. I really love the Jazz with the S-1, but I think that this bass can do it all, and do it very well at that. Of course this is my opinion someone else my disagree
