Looking for a fuzz pedal which can also do light fuzz

OK thanks. The issue is that I live in Europe so return is not really an option for me. And there are not many pedals I can try before buying, hence all these questions
any Green Russian based pedal does great 'light' fuzz IMO
maybe get whatever fuzz you want and turn the volume down on your bass?

I had thought of mentioning this. I agree that the Green Russian clones tend to have a softer, lighter characteristic. I believe that's the silicon clipping diode vs. a germanium one, and probably a few other factors. I owned a Wren & Cuff TFR, and had it modified with a clean blend. It could do some mellower sounds.
I seem to be an anomaly in this area. Just can't seem to get a tone I like from it that is distinctly "Carcosa". The tones I get are lower gain (which seem to be the ones I typically prefer on bass), and I have other boxes that do those tones as good or better. I keep trying, but to no avail. Might end up on the guitar board, but we'll see. Very well could be my use of flats.
TAFM all day long, I've been using it a fair amount lately as a mellower/light fuzz...blended around 75% clean, fuzz and gain to taste.
I really like the Grey Stache but it does not have a clean blend so I am afraid I won't really be able to use it in my current band setting. The TAFM looks pretty great as well, will check it out!
These are basically the same circuit. The thing with all the older muffs, the Sovteks anyway (which seem to be the ones most bassists go after), were made in Russia and they used whatever they could find to make the pedal. So many sound different even though they may look the same. There is a very long and sorted history with the muff. Anyway, the Black is the same circuit as the Green from what I understand. It's just the Green one became popular because it had a sound to it that the newer muffs couldnt match. The Green one as in the old Sovtek Russian made ones. That is what I think of when I hear "Green muff". I came to learn the Black was the same circuit. But they do not sound the same. Just like the newer EHX green russian big muffs dont sound the same as the old russian made green muff. It's nuts man haha. Here, read this:

You can ask Ryan to build you a clean blend into one if you really wanted it. He does custom mods like that all the time at request.
This really is a great clone!! I used one for a year or so. That mids switch is killer. And this is dead nuts on to the EHX black russian. I spent a day A/B'ing the two and its an exact clone to my ears as long as the mid switch stays flat but even then it's still very close.
Well that blows. Sorry to hear that. I can see how it does some other sounds that some other pedals do. I know I have some overlap on my board. But the way I will be using the Carcosa there wont be. Sometimes I think I keep too much dirt on my board. But then I'll try to take some off and it just goes right back on the next day haha. I like having the options.

Are any of the examples in this video in the range of "light fuzz" you'd consider for your needs?
That's a very fair question
. Honestly, I am starting to question whether I am really looking for a fuzz. Don't get me wrong, I do like fuzz, that's not the point. The tones in the video from around 2:30 (with fuzz knob all the way down) are cool but I think even that will be too much for a band with 2 guitars already overdriven/distorted. I don't want to get in the way of the band, I just want to add a bit of dirt to my tone as my Rick (with Rick strings) sometimes sound too clean to my ears. I really know very little about pedals in general so what I am looking for may notnot even be a fuzz but rather a soft OD or even a SPP. I did like the clips of the SPP but the review I read a bit turned me off...
Continuing my research I found a few clips of the Way Huge Pork Loin. It actually could be an option... Not much fuzz, but rather subtle OD that could be more adequate for my needs...
I had one of those. Nice pedal. It is colored a little dark/warm. The clean blend is a voiced clean tone. Very popular around these parts. If I was in that realm, and in the lovely city of Antwerp, I'd consider a COG Mini 66. Small. Clean blend. More of an overdrive.

I hate Mr. Ex demos, but there are some possible tones in here (watch for settings that have low gain and high clean blend.
The Solid Gold FX Beta is another Pork Loin genre pedal I'd consider, and probably go with over the Pork Loin.

I can find these 2 pedals around here for a similar or slightly higher price than the Pork Loin. I may indeed be looking for an OD after all...
have a look at the Lateral sounds "Spore" can be anything from a boost to full on fuzz and all inbetween!
